Villain raises HJ+3 (UTG) to 22,345. Hero in HJ+2 re-raises with QdQc to 58,000. Villain just calls. Hero is working under the assumption that Villain may flat AA some of the times here, but because of my EP 3-bet it is far more likely I have a hand that is looking to get it in preflop so there isn’t much reason to play AA tricky here. Therefore, his range is capped. Hero has taken out AA, KK, QQ, and AK from villain’s range. Leaving him only with, low PPs up to JJ, AQ, AJ, and ATs. Flop comes 5h6c6s Villain checks. Hero bets 48,000 into a 139,000 pot. Hero use a small sizing for two reasons. One, the dryness of the board, and to make his hand look like AK so all PPs can check raise and get it in. Villain flats. Pot is now 235,000. Turn comes Jc. Hero has slightly over a pot sized bet left but the question is, because JJ is such a big part of villain’s range should hero check here? I am asking this question because villain does indeed have JJ. At the moment the jack hit I said to myself, that isn’t a good card, but villain could still have TT, 99, 88, 77, or even AQ. Hero bets 125,000. Villain check-raises all in. Hero calls. Hero hates himself. Was this bad luck or was this something Hero should have played better given the very tight range Hero put Villain on? This may seem like bad beat crying if the answer is obvious, but honestly, I don't know if it this is obviously a spot I am meant to bust out on. Does anyone ever check the turn because they are scared Villain has JJ?

Yesterday I squeezed in the BB to a CO raise and a SB call. I was reviewing the hand and I wanted to calculate if my squeeze was profitable against the COs Raise/folding and raise/calling range. Is there a way to calculate that in one of the solvers out there. If so which one?

HJ+ 3 Open shoves for a little over 1BB. HJ+2 Raises all in for a little over 2 BBs. The action is folded around to Hero in the SB. Hero hold Ac8c. Pot is 8,900 and elects to flat. Villain in the BB is a tight player and upon review, Hero thinks this would have been better to raise and isolate the two all-ins, feeling confident that Villain in the BB would fold most of his weaker holdings. Flatting forces Villain to call with nearly 100% of his range having given him 5 to 1 on his money. The pot is now 13,750. Flop comes 5d8dKh. Hero checks wanting to control the size of an already inflated pot. Villain checks. Turn comes 4h. Hero bets turn for 3500 (about ¼ pot) looking to get value from his hand. Villain calls. Pot is now 20,750. River comes 8h. Should Hero bet for value or turn his hand into a bluff catcher? Hero elects to check. Hero checks behind.

Analysis: If Hero had bet small Villain could have called with worse than Q8 and only raised with a straight or better. I don’t think this tight/solid villain is raise bluffing ever here. I think Hero made a mistake by not betting the river because I think Hero could have gotten value from a wide range of hands more than getting value from missed draws. Missed draws are XdXd, A2, A3, and 7x9x. They all fold to my bet as well as probably Xx4x. Hands that call Xx8x, KxXx, Some, Xx5x. 6x7x, always calls and sometimes raises. XhXh almost always raises but at the very least calls. All boats raise.

Do you agree I should have raise/folded this hand, or do you like the river check? Do you think it would have been better to try and isolate the two short stacks preflop?

In a situation like this, I like to know a player's AFq at the very least and look at my auto notes to see if there are any notes about check raise with less than TP. With a high AFq (+60) and/or maybe an auto note that shows me he's check raised bluffed in the past would factor heavily into my decision on how I played the turn.

I think the river creates a lot of problems because AJ and TJ just got there at the very least.

Buy in: $10 + $1

Villain Stack: 7,370
Blinds: 50/100
Table: 6-handed

Action is folded around to Villain in the SB who open completes. Hero checks in the BB with Kh6d. I’ve been playing hands in position against this loose/sticky/splashy player. Flop comes 8h2sAd and Villain min-bets. I call with the plain to either bet or raise the turn. I feel like this type of player is betting all pairs, all draws, and all air.

Turn comes Jc and Villain min-bets 100 into a 460 pot. I take aces out of his range because I think he would have raised preflop. If Villain is a thinking player he probably takes aces out of my range (although I am not sure Villain is concerned about my range at all). This would be inaccurate because I often check many aces in this spot including very strong ones (sometimes) like AT-AQo for deception. I feel like raising here balances me for the times I do have an ace. Does this mean I should also be raising pairs of 8s and Js? I still think Villain is betting all pairs, all draws and all air. So, I raise to 325 and Villain calls. When he calls I think he calls with all combos of 34 and 45, all combos of 89 and 9T, all pairs of 8s, 2s, and Js. River comes Td completing a straight draw and giving 9T a pair. I feel like this card makes it harder for me to bluff the river because I think this kind of player is calling with any pair 8s or better unless maybe I put in an over pot size bet. So, I check, thinking there are times I still have the best hand against Villain’s 35 and 34 hands.

Against a sticky splashy player is it worth putting in a big bet of 1500 into a 1,110 pot. Maybe he folds a pair of 8s some of the time or even a good portion of the time. Is Villain checking a straight here? Maybe. I could see him wanting to check-raise me for the times I have a strong 2-pair. If you were going to bluff here, based on what we know about this type of player, what sizing would you use? Or is it better just to give up on the river?

First, I am new to this site. This is my first post. If there is a way to fully post hands from WPN please let me know.

Blinds: 100/50/10
Buy in: $10 +$1
Hero starting stack:4,937
Villain starting stack: 6,371

Folded to me in the HJ with KcTc where I open raise to $220. Villain, who is unknown to me, 3bets his button to $645. SB and BB fold. I flat feeling like with the small 3bet gives me the right odds to call and I likely have decent equity against his range. Flop comes AsKs9c giving me middle pair, backdoor straight and flush draw. He bets 1/3 pot and I feel like I can safely call that sizing because he is Cbetting 100% on this flop. Pot is now 2,640 and I have 3,773 behind. My plan has a lot to do with what he does on the turn and what card comes. I don't feel like I can continue to another bet if my hand doesn't improve. If another club comes, especially a J or queen of clubs I can look to check raise. A king comes I can check call. I think I check call if any club comes, but maybe sometimes I check raise. If a ten comes I will check call. And the real mystery for me is, what will I do if a J or Q non-club comes.

Turn comes Qh. I check. Villain bets 1,222 into a 2,640 pot. I feel like this bet is very strong. There are a lot of 2pair combos and pair/straight draw combos in my range. At this point, I don't feel like I can count on a K or a T as outs, I feel like I can only win the hand if a J comes, and some of the time I will be chopping the pot, so I fold.

Would anyone play this hand differently? Was my reasoning and plan on the flop sound? Does anyone fold preflop to the 3bet?
