What was your setup of PIO tree?

as video will appear I will certainly get suggestions and questions :)

April 25, 2018 | 6:58 p.m.

great start, looking forward for your serie! in my opinion, the structure of your video you mentionned is great; first part theory then hand example is great. I request for so long this type of video that I would not suggest anything else like live play or review, there are enough from other pro.

Happy new year Phil and RIO staff, thanks very much for this detailled answer!! really appreciate

Dec. 31, 2017 | 8:01 a.m.

Always nice to see New year's resolution sale, but I'd like to help me to buy it to know what will be New year's resolution on RIO site? we don't hear too much from you & RIO staff about what will be the futur of the site, something new coming up? new ideas? thanks

+1 the best theory/practical example producer at RIO

Congrats to James Obst!! this guy is incredibiliy good! hope James will come more often on RIO for making videos.
A Razz tournament review would be great

June 16, 2017 | 5:34 p.m.

comment from grof get 21 like now :)
would like very much to see that kind of review where you give your advices on tournament dynamics/stack size dynamics and also hand/range you consider to play differently (folded hands) based on stack size. I remember one of your first vid on RIO where you adress short stack play, that would be great to extend the discussion to "shallow stack play" means where the decision can be like for example 3 bet shove vs 3 bet no AI with intention of get it in or just fold, cold calling with shallow stack, R/F vs shove... would really like to hear from you on these kind of situation where you are close to be commited preflop or on the flop/turn, put your tournament life or a big chunk of your stack in danger

or reduce the number of coach and put that $ into higher quality video, because at 50% increase, the customer expectations should be high.
any idea of the range of $ per video a pro ask? I really have no idea.
on my side I can't afford 150$ if there is not a strong change of the content especially MTT. I did stop 2 times my elite subscription at the current price because of lack of content that fit my expectations, and if "zoom" festival and "HH good run and final table review" still make 95% of the content I will do it again and come back when it will interest me.
there is a equilibrium to find I think but this month
elite NLHE 11/12 live play
elite MTT 6/7 multipart live or HH
8 PLO & Mixed 11 vids even more than MTT so for sure PLO players should be very happy cause there is a lot of material, may be I should start PLO :)
I know I'm not alone and respect all subscibers choice but following the couple of thread that has been launched recently on the content, there is a clear change to make to satisfy these people, please RIO :)

April 24, 2017 | 5:47 p.m.

as previous posters mentionned, you are a special case. you mix a lot of content and I feel there is always a lot of work behind or at least a deep thinking that makes your vids asking ourself a bunch of questions. I'm not too agree with "entertaining" stuff, I prefer much more learning something and getting some stuff that make me think on my side rather than be a spectator of a show. again you are a special case, but the problem is that there are few special case like you. even Phil as less and less like on his vids.
this is the top 4 of Mr Galfond 2-4 years ago
Thinking Out Loud: Episode 1 - Leaks Hiding In Plain Sight
Unexpected Value: The Death of EV (29 min)
How I Exploit You (Part 1: Raising Flops)
Playing 3-Bet Pots OOP (part 1)

the likes in vids are more related on RIO "stars" Jason Koon, Fedor Holz, Phil and you, then after if you filter more you will see that the bottom range of vids with less "likes" are a lot of MTT HH review, live play zoom, infinite multi part and the top are "deeper content" related material.

another try filter NLHE essential, not a lot of session

past month NLHE 25 videos 18 Session/zoom (13/16 on elite part)
MTT 18 videos only 9 elite which almost always HH/session;
MTT content & subjects really decrease month after month
NLHE zoom and zoom and session...
don't watch PLO but half of them are from Phil, one interesting thing is the work done by Tom Chambers
as said multiple time by RIO staff theory ask more work vs session review so decrease the quantity and put more work/research/training on vid is one of the solution, I guess...it will at least please subscribers

from this post + "Rio quality slipping" I didn't see change. but I'm still there so I'm an optimistic :)

any news on these mystery projects :)? and development about Rio Training from Pleno1 comments and discussion?

We had been spending so much time on other projects as of late that we
hadn't considered many big changes for RIO Training. We've just
started to have the resources available to focus our energy on more
RIO Training related things. We will be having more discussions soon
regarding any shifts like the one you mentioned, though be patient
with us - things take longer than one would expect!

April 4, 2017 | 6:30 p.m.

would be good to show us in a vid a process of studying with Pio. I mean running PIO that's OK but I think and it is less easy to do, it's to change some range where you think villain can use more or less. the way to change range is very difficult for the time being. as read in 2+2 post it could be improved in a futur update.

March 28, 2017 | 3:05 p.m.

A full review of each hand from the begining would be great. Personal point of view. Just to see How to get there or explaining how You deal with close decision, tournament life, etc... Anyway, I'm a fan of your vids thanks

March 14, 2017 | 6:17 p.m.

+1 For every comment there. Since I subscribed I ask for more deeper content/theory/concept/interactive learning/less final table/less live play/zoom and rezoom and again zoom or HH review of a MTT good run. I'm happy to see that other people here have same thoughts. oh man I again ask for the same thing again and again sorry Phil ;)
I remember a very interesting vid with Espen Sorlie & James Hudson on a MTT. This kind is also very good. Dual video on a specific topics would be really good

March 11, 2017 | 8:56 p.m.

Personally i think Essential membership is valued at $500 a month and
Elite membership to be valued around $2500 worth.. maybe thats high,
maybe its low, just my thought tho.

*

How did you come with these crazy numbers? I just can't stop laughing

Feb. 13, 2017 | 6:21 a.m.

too easy to put Ben Sulsky, once he puts a vid, he gets automatically 100 likes :), special prize for his toy games serie and MTT diversion
but very difficult to make a choice especially for the video of the year; here we go

Elite : Daniel Dvoress (a real master of the concept vid) & Greenwood Brothers (Sam please come back on concept stuff :))
Essential: John Daly & Apotheosis; Chris move to elite now and hope John still there but I doubt.
videos: Puzzle and Mysteries, Chip Mapping (Still a mystery for me may be more on this), tournament life.

New december coach (promising?) arrival: Diego Ramirez & Ryan Laplante

Jan. 15, 2017 | 5:28 a.m.

Diego
I found myself a little bit lost on lot of board especially with the conclusion you made on bet small your overall range.

As example on Ah Kh 5c flop, EP vs SB flat, you've got a very high equity advantage and I guess a range advantage as well?
when running this spot into Pio it gives a big bet size and high frequency of betting.

when it starts also to be quite drawy, bet sizing is not so a clear cut between big and small size, sometimes big, sometimes small, sometimes high frequency of betting.

I did a 74 flops aggregation and to be honest I'm lost to get some overall tendencies except for very dry or paired flop.

Play Multiway in MTT
toy game with blockers: amount of blockers to nuts/bluff
Commitment and SPR manipulation, stack leverage

Jan. 12, 2017 | 7:03 a.m.

so move you ass :) we are looking forward your next stuff. with this one vids you made me work on Pio like hell

Jan. 12, 2017 | 6:27 a.m.

an idea throw like that, would be a good vids to make while you study tournament, alone or a duo vid with your friend to discuss about tournament strategy. I know you are a cash game coach but interesting to see how do you proceed to improve in another game like MTT

Jan. 7, 2017 | 4:23 p.m.

Yes I know I repeat too much :) that's because I probably love you too
but in fact here it is more about what pleno1 said and ouside all my requests it is more about the content provided. I feel the content is just too often "easy" to make stuff compare to some other. there is an equilibrium between 20h stuff and simple review. Something lack to claim a real difference between elite MTT and essential

Jan. 5, 2017 | 6:36 a.m.

I think RIO really needs to rethink its MTT offering and ensure that
the standard really remains elite. Some great coaches, but I think
especially if the price remains the same then getting really top elite
regs ahead of the curve is really important.

Absolutely agree with that. the material should be at what Phil claims a

"If poker training were an airplane, Run It Once would be the first
class cabin."

the material should be at least at the level of some cash deep training vids with "meat" inside, "training & learning" material inside, not a simple running good HH. I don't tell that it is always the case but too often for sure these types of vids can be found in others sites and this is not what we are looking for here as RIO fans :)

Jan. 4, 2017 | 8:16 p.m.

I mean what did you choose as raise size on the flop/turn if you put one for OOP and IP, as well as turn bet size for OOP and IP; river size etc...

Dec. 30, 2016 | 10:29 p.m.

Hello
thanks for this video, it made me play with Pio :) but one question what was your setup to calculate your CB-betting frequencies? because it is heavily dependent on what are the lines used after flop no? I did not find same conclusions as yours like for example on the Q72 flop.
