What does a bad day look like for you? How do you deal with frustration, tilt, lack of motivation, etc? Or what do you think and do to prevent those things?

Paul,
About betting 6x on the turn and checking Tx, I can only imagine that it's because OOP called w/ T4s-T9s and T8o-T9o at some frequencies. IP's only Tx hands are JTs+, which dominate that part of OOPs range and don't need protection from it. On the other hand, I feel like 6x is being used here as a semi-bluff, since it blocks T6s, to attack that part of OOP's range. The 6c also blocks A6, K6 and Q6 of clubs, which would never fold to a turn barrel. Please let me know if this makes sense or not.

As for why it chooses hearts over spades or diamonds, I don't even have an inkling of an idea.

As for the "time" or "perspective" argument, I'd say perspective is the stone cold nuts. I can approach this argument from so many angles, but one way is to look at all the books, memoirs, journals, etc. of people who were told they only had X amount of time to live. Instead of being given more, these people had their time taken away from them, which caused a massive perspective shift. Suddenly these people are able to see more clearly what aspects of their lives are genuinely important to them. And perhaps more importantly their closeness to death allows them to act on those aspects without regard to outside influences, ego, anxiety or anything else that had previously prevented them from acting genuinely.

Mario Batali (chef, restaurateur, writer, TV personality) was asked in an interview "How can you do so much and still manage to be happy?" and his answer was so brilliantly simple: "By nature I'm happy. I wake up happy every day." I would rather have that perspective than have X number more years to live. Of course, for most people we need a lot of time to develop that perspective. But still, that makes "time" a means to an end, the end being higher quality perspective, which leads to the ultimate goal: happiness.

P.S. I'm one of the CFP finalists, so please wish me luck :D

Aristotle says in the Nicomachean Ethics that the end goal for all human beings is happiness, even if they are superficially aiming at something else; e.g. "I value money most" or "I value respect most" actually means "I think money will make me happiest" or "I think respect will make me happiest." If any of you think otherwise, please make an argument for it. I've always thought Aristotle's argument was bullet-proof, but if anyone can make me question it then that would be pretty cool.

Hey Steve. Thanks for the DB review. I really enjoy these and they're extremely helpful.

I've started to open up my BB defending range as you've suggested and it's going decently so far, but now my VPIP has shot up significantly (~31). I used to play 25/22 and now I'm playing 31/22. Should I be concerned about playing too wide and too passively preflop?

Post | chestnutfruit posted in Chatter: PT4 All-In Adj Error?

Not sure if this is the right thread to post this in, but hopefully someone can help me understand this stat.

chestnutfruit: raises $0.75
SB: raises $2.40
BB: folds
chestnutfruit: raises $5.75
SB: raises all-in $32.88
chestnutfruit: raises all-in $21.40
SB: pulls back uncalled bet $7.48

Seat 5: SB lost -$27.90 [Js Jc] One Pair, Jacks
Seat 6: BB lost -$0.25

PT4 says my All-In Equity is 81.54%, but my C All-In Adj is only $15.71. Does anyone understand why that is?

Thanks for the video Steve! I'm sure you have talked about this in past videos, but could you explain in more detail why you "like to 3bet hands like this" (Q9s)? @27:30 on 4th table. How would you react to getting 4bet in that spot? Would you be happy to flat a 4bet against someone with fairly standard stats?

Hey Steve, thanks for the great video! For the decision at ~12:30 with JJ, on 79442 w/ 3 spades, don't you think V could be value betting some 4x hands? e.g. A4, K4s, 64s, 54s. Like you said, he has a much wider range closing the action from the bb.

Post | chestnutfruit posted in MTT: Fold JJ near the bubble?

40 paid, 43 players left. V is in mp with ~55bb, which is one of the top 3 biggest stacks in the tournament (turbo). I just got moved to his table 9 hands ago, and he's opened 2 of them to 3.3x (both from early/mid position) which all led to folds. He opens for the third time from mp, I wake up with JJ on a healthy ~22bb stack (placed 9/43). I call, everyone else folds. Flop is T82r. V bets 1/3pot, I jam. Any other play than this? What would you do with QQ?
