Avg was cca 260k if I remember...
As I was BB, it was 3-w and we were practically playing vs UTG+1.
Initial raiser seems like modern and poker-educated type of player (aware of importance of sizing, capable for bluff and every kind of moves w/ strong but not premium hands, seems like clever and brave player, fast thinker and good observer of situation at the table).
Interesting how I didn't even consider AI shove w/ TT having 40+ bb as UTG+1 could raise JJ+ and I did not want to shove vs potential Broadway pairs or AK that wants to call my shove.
I also excluded calling as I wanted to steal SBs chip and dead money in the pot knowing SB is weaker than me and UTG+1 is good enough either to think I am super strong (I am not) or I reraise w/ strong but not premium hand and is not willing to gamble w/ "similar type" of hand (JJ, 99 vs TT or vs AQ).

Post | lofigr posted in MTT: TT in BB interesting spot

Last 20 out of 132 players, entry is €100, we hold tens in BB having 41 big blinds.
Bubble is 13th position.
7 players are at the table, CO (cca 350k stack) raises to 20k (blinds are 4k 8k, ante 500) , SB short stacker (cca 50k) just calls 20k (??).

Are we going to complete to 20k and play flop 3-w or we will isolate SB knowing SB has either super monster (trapping - which I doubt) or he is weak (in holdings and as player)?

If we just call we reduce potential loss, but any broadway OTF could make our hand super weak, we could easily be bluffed, especially by shorty one. We lose oportunity to knock CO out of hand, and to play vs weak SB as I see the situation.

On the other hand, if we raise to cca 55k, we could be called (same problem on 1-2 broadway cards flops vs CO) or maybe reraised if CO notices what are we doing here...
CO could easily jam w/ AJ-AK, I think his rereraise to cca 125-140 would be w/ (KK, AA) - we fold then. What if he shoves after we isolate?

What would be your option here?

If 9h fell ott or any heart instead of non heart 9 in our case/hand, I wouldn't consider betting/calling turn and wouldn't consider writing thread here...

July 17, 2017 | 6:44 p.m.

Turn is not heart...
!h
I mean, any heart turn is c/f for me.. heart turn implies non-existance of this thread...

July 17, 2017 | 4:27 p.m.

In $1 $1 live plo game with lots of straddles, we got garbage hand A344 in bb, no hearts.

Flop($30): Ah 3h 2s

Sb checks, we lead full pot, 2 players call, one of them is sb.

Turn($90): 9!h, check, we pot, utg calls and sb shoves cca $390, its for our stack, utg is already AI.

What do we do here, we have $300 behind...?

July 16, 2017 | 4:05 a.m.

We have 115 BB, CO opens 4x, we 3-bet huge to 14BB, for live normal sizing, SB shoves AIPF 120BB.
We play vs good reg, easy fold w/ QQ?
Can this ever be AKs or JJ?

April 21, 2017 | 10:18 p.m.

Thanks for reply, I see now...
Regarding river, i reraised to $120 as I thought blocking bet from this player w/ intention that I jam was almost impossible...
Anyway, reraise w/ non-nuts (if it isn't pure bluff) is something I seldom do.
I did it this time and was wondering whether it was right spot for such move, if it is ever the right move...

Post | lofigr posted in NLHE: Rule question plus rvr spot

I was playing last night weird hand in my opinion.
As big blind I limped/called in limp-limp m-w hand..

Flop: 2 3 4 r

It went c-c... and someone bet small into low pot, I called w/ 67o...

Turn: 5 r

I bet like 2/3 into pot after one check (cca $30) and short stack guy behind me went AI w/last $60. One more player (small blind) wanted to call and then asked dealer and others:

  • how much can he bet max
  • who else is in pot (it was only me left)
  • what's my action after he plays hand?

Conclusion was that he could only call as short stack guy did not have min(2 * my bet) so after he could just call I was also allowed to just call if 2nd player decides to call this bet...
Is this correct?

So we both just called and now pot was cca $250.

River: 2 3 4 5 3

Small blind bets $40 - what do you do here..?
We have cca $250 left, villain covers us...

Post | lofigr posted in NLHE: Play otf oop HU w/ Aces

Its $0,7 $1,4 w/ straddle(s) 2,8 (5,6) and we have big stack after reload and winning streak (cca 400 bb).
This hand was played w/o straddle(s) and we got AcAs in SB after few players called min raise (3 if I remember well).
I raised to 135 (blinds are 5 10) and raise was to 20 (3 players r in the hand) and only utg+1 called. We won nice pot vs him recently...

Flop(325): Jc 8c 3h

He has 550 behind and we cover him.
Whats your play here oop?

Jan. 15, 2017 | 8:46 p.m.

I would elect to raise pre this hand...
Flop play debatable being this deep imo, but ok overall. W/ 100bb eff I would play it your way and would try to induce.
In addition, what do u do vs rereraise in this spot?
I would keep pot in this hand small now and would play it passively.
Turn is ok as played as villain now calls w/ all kinds of draws such as AQ, AJ, J9, 89, AT.
River is now nothing but c/c not only because of strength of our hand and villain'd calling range when we lead, but the fact that we might lead w/ all missed draws and stronger hands such as KT, 77, 55. I would bet river w/ hand such as 8s9s and Js9s...

Post | lofigr posted in NLHE: Weird c/r otf

Last hand I reraised several players having KK in BN, raise was big, everyone folded...
Next hand we got AQs in spades.
This time 5 players called and flop was

AA9 r , blinds r 5 10 ($1 $2)

My preflop raise was to 70 and BN folded.
Flop was checked to me and I put 75 into 350 and HJ reraised to 250.
I have 2000 stack and he has cca 1100 left.
How you proceed in this hand?

Typing this at the table....

Jan. 13, 2017 | 10:19 p.m.

On which river cards you call after calling turn? In other words, why you called turn when you folded later low river card?

Live MTT, $33 w/ 1 reentry, 60 entries, 20 reentries, last 11, duration: cca 8h.
Bubble is on 7 players, avg = cca 22 bb.
We lost big pot 4 hands ago and we remained w/ 27 bb.
Do we/you call w/ J4s 2x bet HU vs BN who isnt playing to much, seems like patient kind of passive player on tighter side... He has cca 25 bb.

Jan. 9, 2017 | 1:28 p.m.

I think u r right... It plays same as $6, $12 (plus $1 extra), so 400(bb I guess) in $1 $3 = $1200 = 100 bb in $6 $12...
What confuses me is that OP in one moment says:

button with 385 raises to 63

Although I presume 385 = bb and 63 = $63 it's very confusing and misleading not mentioning your key point about strategy when 2 straddles are involved...

Comment | lofigr commented on AQo in BN HU

Thanks both - I incorrectly wrote Hand, I was in BN, so I called flop and faced decision OTT.
I overplayed AQ and "forgot" I was raised pre from blind where villain was barreling flop and turn which should seldom be bluff on such board...
I jamed turn counting we play vs (AT,AJ)s as I did not want see flush completing river and ran into AK...
Best regards.

Dec. 29, 2016 | 9 p.m.

Dont know why you raise flop in the 1st hand...
2nd hand:
Did lady bet $20 into $40 and u reraised to $45?
I think u should have raised to cca $55..
Recap:
1st hand wasnt played as it was supposed to be played as trapping, at the and u were very unlucky...
2nd hand is cooler, I dont like sizing for reraise (I guess pre is standard as its live), I would snap call opponent's shove...
Additionally - its relevant otf whether its Ah or not... Unlucky hand at the end for u again....

Dec. 24, 2016 | 7:34 p.m.

Preflop ok, flop also more than ok, turn I would jam and would be happy...
He doesnt have all AcB (B=Broadway) combos, I am pretty sure KcJc is all in for him otf if he somehow 3-bets those hands vs UTG open.
He doesn't 3-bet Kc[2c-9c] nor KJo vs UTG from CO...
In my opinion he might have JcJ, AB (2 pairs maximum), KcK and AA.
He calls w/ KcK, JcJ, TT and AJc, AKc - if he has AA nice hand..
So - all hands vs u lose that he might 3-bet u pre contain cards on the board except AA and KcJc which he jams otf...

BB raises to 100 and I call.
He has like 700 and we have 1400.
Opponent seems good/patient/tight, I have never seen him playing in casino and I am regular visitor/player.

Flop(200): A Kc 3 r

Check, bet 80, I call...

Turn(360): 8c

I check, opponent bets 180....

Hero?

Ps AJ I fold here, we block AK, maybe he has AJs here, not sure about ATs... KK...?

Post | lofigr posted in NLHE: Size ott in BN 3-w

I limped in button 3-w but blind raised pre sort of large and he was semi short stacked. Another limper in HJ called that bet w/ same stack.
I decided to call w/ 57o cause of position and fact that one of players could play for stacks in this hand, maybe even both of them..
When HJ folds raise I easily fold pre...
Players are timid and play straightforward
Blinds are 5 10($1 $2) straddle is 20, BB raised pre to 80.

Flop (270): 4♡ 6♡ 8d

BB bets 140, HJ calls 140...
I asked BB how much he has left, response was 475. HJ had ~ 700 more, I cover both.

How do you proceed?
What cards do you put both players at?

Dec. 18, 2016 | 8:49 a.m.

Flop sizing is ~$60, turn is more c/c than b/c if we dont want to be rr-ed by A5s for instance. On spade rivers we could bet for value, on this card I would probably c/c, but c/f is also an option as we block Q and FDs, so when he bets turn (sizing matters here), I dont see him doing this w/ AQ(pre), 6s8s, 6s7s, 8s7s,6s3s (he will not fold out our Q here) or with Q w/ bad kicker such as T or 9. When we check river and he bets, he doesn't do it w/ KQ nor all kind of missed draws now....
I think that our flop sizing otf led to turn sizing of our opponent(stealing pattern) which made our play in this hand unpleasant ott and otr...

Dec. 17, 2016 | 3:44 p.m.

Surely he does not have 8s6s, but 86!ss could have as 8s6s is c/raise otf most likely. Diamonds and bdfd add some extra eq to aprove his correct call having double gutter and bdfd.
I wonder why u VB river if u suspect u play vs good reg thats capable for smart c/r otr to take your entire stack?

Dec. 11, 2016 | 5:14 p.m.

There is no point of betting turn once flash completes cause we have excelent hand with lot of equity so it would be really pity if we get c/r ott and we need to fold then...

Dec. 11, 2016 | 5:01 p.m.

Utg doesnt have straight nor fd otf imo... He knows otf u dont have straight and might put you to OP, FD. After u bet ott he knows u dont have AKo, AQo, KQo for instance so now u have OP, FD+gutter such as AcTc.
His decision otf could be to call/evaluate turn and do such move if u bet turn when he has 88, 77, 66 and blank turn hits the board.
I think that with all kind of draws he could call turn and call/bluff all rivers when he hits/misses and u bet/check.
From that perspective turn is bet/fold for me...

Dec. 11, 2016 | 4:54 p.m.

As check calling hand otf 68 which was OESD was there ott. Most likely I was not playing vs sets otf as some players would lead otf when not c/r. When he did not lead turn, I excluded sets, but he had hands like 68/97s in his range now imo.
Also he doesnt fold 96s/98 now ott and his plan might be to bluff me if he puts me to AQ/KK/AA so I did not want to build the pot at that moment.

Oct. 16, 2016 | 1:23 p.m.

As you may notice UTG is in the hand, so if I remember correctly he raised to $4 and I 3-bet to $8,5/$9... Maybe I should have bet little bit bigger....

Comment | lofigr commented on Very Deep 1/3 with KK

I dont like turn reraise as its pure guessing protection and at the same time it can hardly be VB 4-way...
As played leading river is something we dont want to do imo...

Post | lofigr posted in NLHE: Facing huge donk overbet OTR

$1 $2 live, 8players, we 3-bet from EP AQs to $8,5, its 6 players in the hand.

Flop($50): q 5 7 (r) we bet $40, only UTG calls...

Turn($130): 9 its c-c...

River($130): 9 ..... guy leads w/ $600 bet which is my stack size...

Is this:

  • Q9(could be)?
  • flopped set (dont think so)?
  • turned straight (failed attempt to c/r turn)?
  • very weak pure bluff(not sure)?

I folded easily... Anyone calls this ever?

Additionally, I think opponent is fearless gambler, I also doubt that he read many poker books/watched many poker training videos(if thats relevant here), thats my subjective opinion from what I saw (he 4-bet to $35/ called 5-bet to $130 and won hand on ATLJL board having AJo... Later his opponent told me that he had QQ in that hand).

Just curious....

Oct. 9, 2016 | 9:09 a.m.

Its live $1 $2, straddles are often, this hand is w/o straddle.
Hand before I 3-bet AA from SB HU vs BTN who opened $6, folded KQo - he showed the hand.
Now I am BTN and have Td7d and call him who is HJ and he is opening/raising to $7. Its 3-w...

Flop($22): 7hAh7 its check, check, I bet $15, next guy utg limp/caller folds and original raiser c/r to $45....

I have $215, he covers me... He is very good player, dont remember him bluffing ever....

Dont know what to do and what hand he might have to do this move w/.... He reps 7+...
He doesnt have A7, nor K/Q 7 most likely, seems like some KhQh or maybe AK/AQ.
7 is way more in my range than his, he might put me on steel though... Very unusal spot for me...

Any thoughts?
