Post | pm6guy posted in NLHE: Losing vs 1 raiser

So, looking through PT4 (stats tab) , it seems more or less apparent that I am losing the most versus 1 raiser. What are some tangible action steps? Without oversimplification, is it just gonna be "fold more when someone else raises?"

I feel like I should be working these things out since I've been playing awhile and looks like I have the same leaks more-or-less. Have a great day! Thanks!

Right, so the main pitfall is if you can't make anything and your deposit gets stuck. I dont think it would be super hard to earn back the deposit and if I did, then that prob means the coaching isn't the worst. They say they don't want unmotivated people bailing after making some $, hence the deposit. Would you trust them??

Can anyone give me insight on best poker coaching (BPC) and if it works. Is it worth the time investment and the deposit? They say they only make money if you do because it is a profit split until you reach your goal in the contract. It is really hard to find reviews and stuff about their program which does slightly worry me. What would you recommend?

What level are you playing? Look at poker like a business where making the best decisions will pay off. I like to play poker for the challenge and its infinite complexity. I think what would help me is knowing that I am a proven winner and that even though bad things happen, it won't be because of what you are doing, but due to variance. I think it would also be helpful for you to document you journey to this point as a testament to your mental toughness and work ethic. Good luck!

Nov. 22, 2015 | 2:37 a.m.

I've noticed since I started short stacking that opponents make terrible adjustments and get it in pre w/ stuff like KQs or 99. Postflop makes multi-tabling easier with simpler decisions being we are shorter. Opponents will stack off w/ a pair of kings on a board like K73 if they have K8s against my AK in a 4b pot. In general, players compensate by playing poorly. I think my postflop game needs more work before I can confidently play w/ a full stack.

It's def. an option, but my thought process is my hand becomes too obvious when I check back and I basically narrow my range to look like JJ or AK and I want to keep the momentum with me if I improve to make barreling easier. This isn't a spot where I would c/b sets and also I could argue toward a c/b against an opponent who I know is likely to spew down with mid PP or a hand like QJs if I c/b and feign weakness. So, trapping on this board texture could be okay, but this player is on the nitty side so don't expect much action from him without decent holdings.

Nov. 20, 2015 | 5:52 p.m.

Makes sense, obviously bluff shove AKd far superior with double diamond nut blockers? I think I should be more happy to bluff less nitty players as well?

Nov. 20, 2015 | 7:02 a.m.

Good point Disharmonist, my range does look super strong here. So c/b turn looks the play and bluff or value bet rivers

This hand isn't really that interesting but is this a spot to cbet and c/f turn? C/c flop seems like a tough spot and what sorts of flops are you NOT cbetting with hands like AK or AQ? What is the play when called? I can't really improve but I could cbet turn on some 8,9, or club cards right? Sometimes a 6 as well but I rarely have 89 here.

What about same spot with same hand IP?
Thanks a lot guys :D

If I'm calling pre, should I ever be folding this board texture? I just don't see him showing up with many worse hands

Don't I want a wider range to call with IP against a fish who opens and now we have a multi way pot where we can take flops IP?

Are you suggesting fish really limps utg w/ JJ and QQ? I wouldn't recommend flatting AA oop either since it can get difficult to play. Btw, I would bet bigger on flop and turn, making calling off easier for you. Usually in these spots, fish don't show up with trips but pair +draw (fd, oesd like 97). With your flop sizing, they can basically call with any 2 profitably. I don't know, I understand the strategy you are describing, but I just think it would work better in position with a fish already in the pot or in the blinds since you'll get raised on a lot of flops and be guessing since their ranges will be substantially wider.
