Day 14 - 19:

Can't really get anything going, been a tough stretch,  but have to be accountable and keep posting on here.

Things I'm doing to turn it around:

Recognise that this is the nature of tournament poker- You hit some scores then nothing for a while until the next big score. Been running some simulations on Prime Dope tournament variance calculator and its kind of scary how long a break even or losing streak can go (and I'm making the perhaps premature assumption that I am positive ROI long term in the tournaments I am playing ). My current downturn is not even that rare an occurrence - the probability of loss is 22% in a sample 200 tournaments (given an expected ROI of 30% and average field size of 200) .

Taking some time off - mainly to study and work with a coach (and also not to dust off the rest of my roll :)

Determined not to bust this roll so probably not playing anything above $3 tournaments for a while..

Will post on here till busto or robusto!

Bankroll: $213.00

Day 7 + Day 8:

Some deep runs (no FTs) and cashes but nothing notable. Won a ticket to a $25 tournament though, so that should be fun to play.

Day 3 (continued)

Play at night and managed a 4th and 12th.

The 4th was in a Turbo that was just a shove fest from almost the start of the tournament. Will not be playing those again but am obviously happy to win some flips and go on a deep run.

Bankroll: $593

There was an interesting hand that propelled me to a monster stack in the $3 tourney (and that after reviewing I am pretty sure I misplayed the river):

I raise with JJ UTG + 2 and get one caller in CO. Flop J8x with 2 spades. I bet with top set and my opponent calls. Turn is an 8. I bet again and the opponent calls. River is a spade and I overjam for about 2x pot and get called (my opponent called with Q3ss rivered a flush) and win a huge pot .

Seems kind of standard but I think I should be checking that river. My opponent will bet and (at these stakes) call a CR with his flushes but I miss allowing him to bluff his missed straight draws (9,10),(Q,10), (Q,9), (7,10) and random air (which you see more than you would think at micros).

Day 3 - bombed out of every tournament except for one (deepish - 200 left in a $6.60) today. Back to reality after yesterdays run good. Not much interesting to report- just didn't really get anything going....

Bankroll: $525

Busted in 12th. Tournament has a good structure for a micro, several interesting spots for me to analyse. Would've liked to have final tabled but was a fun expierence.

Post | tramcg01 posted in Chatter: Poker Progress

Hi everyone - I'll try and keep this short and to the point.

I've been playing on and off for quite a while, with no real goals or accountability and want to change this. Deposit, run it up and bust my account....rinse,repeat...this is the cycle that needs to stop

Instead of trying to keep track of my progress (or lack thereof) in my head, I am going to keep an account of it on here.

Goals:

BR Management: Practice solid bankroll management.

Format: Stick to one format of poker (online MTTs) for 90%+ on my play.

Play: To play well, post hands and really think about the game and my decision making process. To make incremental improvements and takes shots at bigger games when rolled and my game is at that level.

Journal: To make a post on this blog everyday for at least 6 months.

Down the line: I would like to play higher tournaments and be a profitable poker player. The ultimate dream is probably the same as everyone on here- to be able to play poker full-time.

Mindset: To bring a positive and mindful approach to the game

Roadblocks: I can only play on Juicy Stakes and Ignition where I live (not much I can do here for now)

Thanks for reading :)
