Will there be anything organised this year?

Post | yipikaye posted in MTT: Interesting Spot

It's a 110 MTT 9 players are left.

We have 66 in BB with 10 bigs behind, 11 at the start of the hand. It's 6 max.

There is two tables, we are on the 5 handed table. Player UTG opens up for slightly over a min raise, he has 25bb, no one is particular deep due to the structure.

This seems like a standard JAm, but is their any merit in calling > jamming?

It's not a troll, I sent the person a message a few days ago, asking what it was all about. They didn't respond, hence posting here. If it was hacked wouldn't expect them to say, sorry it's a virus.

Post | yipikaye posted in Chatter: Paying for Rio

Is it possible to pay for Rio, via poker site transfer? Eg transfer via party poker for eg

Being based in the uk, the bank uses a poor exchange rate £ versus dollar. Also they make a charge for non standard fees.

As an aside, I keep getting bombarded by emails from deuces racked offering a weeks free trial. I thought, why not? It's free. They debited my account right away, and the videos are horrendous and limited😜

Dec. 23, 2016 | 3:26 a.m.

Hey, enjoyed the video, thank you. Just a quick question about a 8 suited jamming utg with 11 bigs on the b, is this not a bit light for jamming in this particular spot given its the bubble/ if called we will be crushed?

Dec. 3, 2016 | 10:49 a.m.

Hey Thanks both for the feedback it's appreciated. Preflop is interesting, I don't really fold to min raises B/B, I guess this is maybe a bit of a leak. Totally agree with the flop being a check. OTR, as played, is really interesting imo.

Hey Mikey, I've responded to your email

Post | yipikaye posted in Chatter: Any customer service on here?

I sent an email to RIO 2 days ago and have received no response.

It was through the "contact us" section.

I had also emailed them a while back, which was not responded too, but it was nothing major so just left it.

Is it common for them to ignore emails?

Aug. 9, 2016 | 9:29 a.m.

Blinds 600/1200, no antes.

In the BB we have 34k
Villian is SB has us covered just.

We have Js2d, SB min raises we call. Pot 4800

Do you think this defend is to loose, I just think we are getting such a good price with the benefit of position it's really hard to fold any hand to a min raise.

Flop 2c5sAced (4800)

SB Checks, We bet 1700. SB Calls. Pot 8200.

Turn Qs. Check Check (8200)

River: Jd

Villian checks for a 3rd time...
We bet 7.2k into 8200 a very chunky bet indeed Pot 15.4k

Villian moves all in, we have 23k behind.

When they jammed I was slightly taken aback, I didn't expect them to raise here ever, as the hand had played out.

But by the same token, I wasn't sure that they were repping anything, as in I expected them just to bet any value hand otr.

Thoughts on the river decision and also the questionable flop bet by me?

Reads: Not played versus villain in a while, used to play them a bit at cash, but maybe 6 months ago, they were mostly tight but certainly capable of moves.

Comment | yipikaye commented on Ok or spew?

Ty for the responses, if we bet 16/17 otf and are called in say 1 spot, unimproved we are X folding a lot of turns (if they bet). I prefer c betting to X calling flop.

The move in this hand is super unusual, X raising in 3 bet pot that went to the flop 3 ways.

Say we cont bet flop reg can bet 10s or jj or 99 type hands and fold to aggro on flop or to turn jam if they get stubborn otf.

On this particular board texture I just think we have such a range advantage and X / raising flop looks super nutted.

Hu I like cont betting small, just 3 way I expect to be looked up at a reasonable high % of the time in at least 1 spot. it was a fun hand, and thanks for the comments. Based on what you have both said I could be slightly out on some of my thinking.

Obv not the best of flops for our hand, but amazing for our range.

Would appreciate any comments.

It's always good to learn and look at different perspectives to things.

Poker in itself can teach people a lot, to think analytically, problem solving, mathematics, batting the roller coaster ride that it is. The constant aim for improvement with a hard work ethic. Skills learned and honed through poker are super transferable.

So sure you can learn stuff from outside poker to help your game, but it works the other way too.

HAd loads of deep runs tonight, made a few FTs but didn't close out one and got coolered in crucial spots.

It was a good night on paper, but it pretty raw right now, just feels pretty shit.

To results orientated?

You definitely will have periods where you are playing less than optimally especially with great volume.

lol the op was a delayed post bourne out of frustration at a very shitty session, I knew I couldn't post then it would have been a pretty shitty post.

But it did get me seriously thinking about A game.

It's funny I seldom feel I play my A game, a whole heep it's my B game.

Something else happened that night which was quite annoying I lost all discipline, which is such a dumb thing to do when playing poker.

Why am I posting this to myself? (no1 else is talking:P)

Sometimes in poker it's just hard mentally, when you make bad mistakes and do silly stuff.

Of course only the individual player can do that.

Must do better

Sick blog?

I noticed tonight, i'm trying to keep an eye on how i'm playing in MTTs right now at different stages, early on at the start of the session, i'm prone to making a whole heep of mistakes, but as time goes by, getting deep runs going, I play significantly better.

Post | yipikaye posted in Chatter: A Game

I was thinking a few nights ago about how often i'm playing my very best, say A game, versus B/C or worse game.

In cash games, perhaps, it is easier to play with somewhat consistency and generally standardised style.

I'm really talking about MTT's. I want to know if it's common amongst others players or if it is just a massive leak of mines.

In MTT's I feel I seldom play my "A" game quite often playing B or C game and occasionally pretty awful. If playing awful, say playing a bunch of MTT's and then you take a bad beat and for a few minutes it affects you in other games, like you just make a ridiculous all in call, or 3 bet jam a hand you should just be folding pre, stuff like that. Stuff like that is not common in my game, but still happens on occasion and I know I need to take it completely out of my game because its costing money.

Anyone else been there before with this kind of issue (it's funny i used to do this in cash too, but have totally removed it from my cash game, but it seems to be harder with MTTs).

Post | yipikaye posted in MTT: 3 streets to thin?

6 max MTT ITM we are 1st/11 with 48k.

QcQs in the small blind. Blinds 300/600

Inexperienced player limps the Button, we ISO to 2.1k

Interestingly bb Calls and the limper folds. Pot = 5.4km Villian has 24k Behind.

Flop: 3d ks 9c I don't have a lot of reads on villain, we bet 1.8k call. Pot = 9k

Turn is a brick 6d

We bet 4.2k Villian folds.

Say its a brick river like 2s, the plan was to value bet it. OTT i'm just continuing to value bet, I don't expect he has many Kx here. We block KQ, AK would expect to 4 bet, can't really see them having JK. In reality this player is also an "inexperienced" player, so his range could be wider.

Maybe it is to weak to say he cant have many Kx here? Also, maybe we are only going to get two streets of value here max, so probs best to check Turn and value bet river, although betting the turn gives us some proection against his Ax hands. Like he could have called flop as light as A10-J(Q), I suppose these hands are just folding unimproved anyway. 9x prob folds turn, but may call a 2nd bet otr.

Would be interested on opinions on all streets , thanks

Post | yipikaye posted in NLHE: Turn Jam

Hey, would welcome any feedback on this hand please from early stages of a MTT.

6 handed MTT, no antes, blinds 15/30. Hero has 1.8k, villain covers us.

We raise 10Jdd UTG+1 to 90, cut off 3 bets to 240, we call (525)

Flop: Ac 10s 7h

Check, Villian bets 262.50 we call (1050)

Turn: 9c

Check, Villian bets 525, we jam for 1377.

Ok, no more posting results, pen note pad will do:D

Won a decent amount more, then had a spew day.

They happen about once every 3 months, it's normally running bad, it snowballs, then I just go way to aggro/ spewy.

Back on track now though, still it's something I need to totally remove from my game: spew, making plays that if I was thinking rationally would not make.

I wonder how often we actually play our "A" game, I would hazard a guess not to often.

Jan. 12, 2016 | 11:32 p.m.

For the stakes you are playing I would keep it simple + would look and moving up as soon as possible, especially with the work you are putting in.

Good luck!

7 hours played, minus 60, was in a massive hole at one point: could have been worse.

1st post on rio, hey everyone!

My 3 bet Sizing in MTT's varies quite differently based on who the opponent is, I don't really have standardised sizings, it usually depends on who the player is Rec or Reg, do they call a lot/ fold a lot/ 4 bet a lot, chip stacks etc.

I've started playing more MTTs recently> Cash. Pretty much in Cash all my 3 bet sizings are totally consistant, unless it's against a bad player who is never folding.

If you were to go for standardised 3 betting sizes for MTTS (generally), presuming a reasonably playable stack, how does 2.5x in position sound, and atleast 3 x sound for OOP?

Thanks
