Live SB vs Button Strategy- 3betting

Having played online almost exclusively for the past 4-5 years, I’m used to seeing about a 2-3x button raise size. Playing live, you typically see no lower than a 4x button raise size, even from regs. I also imagine that they are opening a wider range due to the low 3b freq seen in live games and the more fit or fold tendencies from the population. I do open up a touch wider myself. Because of this, I’m thinking to expand my 3b range a little bit to capitalize on dead money. If they are opening a larger sizing with a similar or wider range, then they should be creating a scenario where they can’t(or don’t) defend properly. I think this is true at 100bb. As we can buy in for 166bb, does this become less true as we get deeper, because people can and probably do call more? If I’m in a 1-3 game, with a $500 buy in, and they open to $12, it almost becomes like a 2-5 game with a button 2.5x raise(just less blinds in pot preflop to win). I suppose if they are opening too wide still however, it still becomes pretty good to 3b a higher frequency, but we do have to be more selective to use hands that perform well in deeper situations.(likely more suited combinations, and as we get deeper and deeper, maybe using less things like AJo and KQo
