Struggles in 3 bet pot out of position

Blinds: $0.02/$0.05 (6 Players) UTG: $3.71
MP: $6.14
CO: $5.76
BN: $5.00
SB: $4.04
BB: $6.80 (Hero)
I dont have much info on villain. He is 20/11 after 36 hands. No info on how he deals with cbets
Preflop ($0.07) Hero is BB with A 5
UTG folds, MP raises to $0.13, 3 folds, Hero raises to $0.45, MP calls $0.32
Villain opens to 2.5BB. A5s is in my 3 bet range. I made it 9BB, trying to size it to make sure he doesnt call too wide.
Flop ($0.92) 7 K 4
Hero bets $0.26, MP calls $0.26
I cbet effectively 100% on this texture. I could certainly have some Ks in my 3 bet range. so make a 1/3 pot bet.
Turn ($1.44) 7 K 4 K
Hero checks, MP bets $0.91, Hero folds
On the turn, I have adopted a strategy of checking 100% of my range to protect my value hands and avoid just checking my trash. However, when villain bets 2/3 pot, I think I just have to let this go. Sure, i am blocking some AK combinations but I just don't think I have enough equity to continue
Final Pot MP wins $1.38
Rake is $0.06

This is a fairly typical situation i run into in 3 bet pots being out of position and wonder whether i should be doing something different. My check 100% strategy on the turn means i get moved off these pots with my bad hands if villain floats the flop and just wants to have a stab. but it does mean i check over my good hands and make value that way. This hand is effectively bottom of my range here so i think it is OK to play it this way and let go.

Would you play this differently?
