Flatted with the nuts on turn

Blinds: $0.25/$0.50 (6 Players) BN: $101.02
SB: $74.48
BB: $53.36
UTG: $50.00
MP: $44.50
CO: $66.75 (Hero)
Preflop ($0.75) Hero is CO with 7 8 T A
UTG raises to $1.50, MP folds, Hero calls $1.50, 2 folds, BB calls $1.00
Flop ($4.75) J 9 4
BB checks, UTG checks, Hero bets $3.02, BB calls $3.02, UTG folds
Turn ($10.79) J 9 4 7
BB checks, Hero bets $5.15, BB raises to $16.68, Hero calls $11.53
River ($44.15) J 9 4 7 K
BB bets $32.16 and is all in, Hero

I flatted the turn as I hoped to take it away from him on any board pairing river as I hardly see anyone on these stakes check raising the turn without the nuts. Is this thinking correct or should I just get it in on the turn for a chop?

Now in hindsight, I'm not sure what I would have done had he shoved on any board pairing river.

As played, I'm assuming I can't fold river with 2nd nuts?
