Hi guys. I've been playing for 2-3 months, mainly part time for like 2-3 days a week. I do have a question about my winnings bb/100 after analysing my stats . My results bb/100 on Partypoker is 7.84 and 888poker is 10.8 on 85k hands. Also mainly playing 1$ - 5$ small field tournaments. I'm not sure about the sample size and about my playing ability.

There are few things I really doubt about my playstyle, player fields and also current meta game, which i dont know what it is right now:
- Bluffing at the river. Depending on the player. I've seen a lot of patterns that (if I) fire three barrels will pay off most of the time. Player tend to stick with their weak pair (like pair of 3 on a J732 rainbow board). A lot of times I really dont have the balls to bluff the river. Tried it few times and winrate was 50/50 i would say.
- Flushdraws and some straightdraws. Flushdraws is really a struggle for me at these stakes. Most of the time they will have flushdraws by def at the big blind. Or fishes calling randomly at different positions. I dont know any good solutions for this kind of situations. Even though I bet big on flop and turn. If the river completes a flush, often I feel forced to check it and lose a bunch of my stack there. Im not sure about checking turn and giving villian a free card, but I really do prefer barreling.
- 3-4 handed play. Like I said on point number one. I'm quite aggressive, but a lot of times it seems that im spewing chips away by betting too often postflop. Ive tried to do some check backs on the flop, but then I will play a guessing game on turn and rivers. Which confuse me a lot.

I know these are all example without any decent hand history, but i will look at my database for certain HH.
Also I will post my stats at this post and hopefully you guys can rate my playstyle!!

Hi all
I’ve been playing poker part time for 6 years. The reason that I’ve playing poker part time is because I’m a student. So most of the time I will play poker during weekends and holidays, which takes 1 or 2 weeks every two months. Since I started playing poker, I was aware that my parents knew I was playing poker. I’ve explained that I played with play money and was playing for fun. Actually I’ve lied because I was sure my parents wouldn’t be happy if they knew I was playing for real money. My parents are Asians, so explaining that poker isn’t gambling is quite hard. They are against every argument and explanation I say. After a long period of time, I’ve kept grinding under unfavorable conditions. Which means I’ve got disturbed by my parents by doing stuff at home for example: cleaning the house, cooking etc.

After I’ve graduated, I’ve decided to take a one year gap to focus on playing poker. I would say I was a decent/ mediocre player at 45-180man sngs till 15$. It went okay for the first 2 months. After that, my parents are getting more frustrated at me that I didn’t get a real job and was wasting time at home playing poker. I was also aware that my parents knew I was playing for real money. There was times that my parents disconnected in order I would say playing poker. They did that many time when they saw me playing poker. Although the grind didn’t worked out because of them, I’ve found a job at the supermarket and worked for the rest of the year. After that, I’ve started my masters which takes two more years.

To keep the story short. Since summer is started, it would be nice to play poker again. I didn’t play for 1.5 year. Ive stared playing poker at May and deposited in total of 60 euros at Partypoker, 888 and pokerstars. My bankroll is now 970$ and I wonder if I would be great to grind 1.1$ - 5.5$ mtts this summer.
If I grind at home, I really don’t feel comfortable at home because of my parents. I was also looking at office rooms which is quite expensive at my city. Grinding at Airbnb and hotels is also expensive. Even I grind at those places, it will hurt my ROI really hard. Grinding at my friends home is also not really an option because they don’t know that I’m playing. So is there something which you guys can suggest to grind poker during this summer?

Calling pre is fine, it depends on villians stats. Floating after the flop is maybe okay. Im not sure if it is spewy or not. And river bluff is obv for A and K highs, because 77/99 might be called on the river. I do this also a lot btw

Comment | Calvin_n1 commented on NL10 how to play AA?

Why arent you shoving turn for value? As you said QQ is heavily discounted.

What i've seen if villians limp/call pre and donk turn, its mostly a weak top pair or someting weird like a flopped so you are good most of the time. The K might scare him a bit but theres no reason to shutdown turn and fold river...

I dont know what the std line is to take here. Villian was around 150bb deep.
I've played this hand pretty straightforward which is okay imo. Im not sure what he flatted with pre, flop and turn but i think 66+, JT, QJ, KJ and AJ. The only hand that gets there on the river was KJ and im beat by 66 and JJ. So not a lot of combos.
Should i just jam river and hope that he doesnt have a K or just fold?

I dont know how to play against donkbets on the flop, because i have a habit to just call and see what the turn is.
The turn might complete some draw, but he bets half pot which makes villians hand pretty weak.
Then villian pots river, which is weird. A lot of hands get there like JTs, maybe donking with sets? and some weird two pairs which is most likely since he was just defending the BB, but couldnt resist folding my hand.

Any thoughts to play this hand differently?

Hi everyone ;)

I will introduce myself to Run It Once :D
My name is Calvin, Im 21 years old and I live in Holland.
I was graduated as chemical analyst last summer and decided to give a shot at playing online poker professionally for one year. Why?Because i was a little bit burned from being at school and internship for around 3.5 years. During that time i've played poker in weekends and wanted to give a shot after I graduated.

Some background information about me:
I started to play poker after school with my friends when I was 17th. Started to play a lot at Facebook and was winning all the time, so I thought. Im really good at playing poker. At my 18th birthday. I deposited around 80 Euros on Pokerstars and went broke. Then I decided to make another deposit in order to play 1.50 90man KO sngs, because I really loved that format. And grinded and switched to different formats at poker in the last 3 years. I've got decent succes and was a winning player, but never crushed at cash games, 45-180mans reg and turbos, won 3k in SCOOP 1K main event where I've qualified for nothing, hyper HU. And now Im playing zoom cash games.

After I graduated. I decided to take break for a year to play poker professionally. In the first 3 months it went okay for me.
My grind went okay'ish. I was able to grind my bankroll at 45man turbos and even covered my monthly cost. But after that i went on a downswing and I was a lil bit afraid that i couldnt play poker full time. And that was one of the first obstacles when i was playing full time.
So my gf advised me to look for a part time job. Which can cover my monthly cost without having much pressure at the poker tables. I followed her advise and it was a great idea to be honest.
Another obstacle were my parents. I still live with my parents and they are not really happy that im started to play poker when I was still at school. They said it will make you a bad person etc. I understand that my parents love me but they also have to understand that they have to open their mind for my arguments, which they didnt. So every time they walk around my room they will take a peek what im doing. Everytime they saw me playing poker they were mad all the time. But I ignored them. I've endured for 3 years by now. There are a lot of other things that my parents blamed me about playing poker, but i have to accept how it is right now. And thats why i decided to switch to zoom cash games if my parents are at work. The whole story is much longer than this, but I will pause for now.

But what are my plans right now? My goals on poker is, reaching 50nl zoom, studying and hoping to see some progression in poker. Outside poker, my goals are to get my driver licence before summer. And studying math and chemistry in order to qualify to be a teacher for kids around 12- 18 years. Forgot another important thing, fitness and living healthy.

How will I use this topic/ blog? I think i will update it mostly everydat as a checklist or something how everything went for me.

This is my schedule when im going to play poker and for my part time job:

Poker:
12:00 - 09:00 Sleeping
09:00 - 09:45 Waking up, breakfast and newspaper.
09:45 - 10:00 Going to gym
10:00 - 11:15 Gym
11:15 - 12:00 Shower, preparing food and clean the house a little bit
12:00 - 18:00 Grinding :D
18:00 - 19:30 Dinnertime
19:30 - 21:00 Reviewing my database and posting hands on forum
21:00 - 24:00 Netflix and chill :P

Working, it really depends on what time i have to work but i make sure i will do these things.
-Study math and chemical for 1 to 1.5 hour
-Studying my driver licence 1 hour
-Driving lesson 1 hour
-Going to gym
-Maybe studying poker.

Feedbacks and comments are always welcome ^^

Cheers!!
