dEV is at 0.5%. But could dEV have such a deep impact? I mean other boards look consistent with theory... BUr vs BBcoc

Hi Steve
thx for that vid! I have some questions about the last hand ATdd on 678xhh 43:30min. You say on such dynamic flops we should use the check behind Overpairs QQ+. I agree with u vs competent villains, but here we have a limp caller and I classify him as a fish with no further reads I think villain is really passive and will call down really light and wide. So I would squeeze as much value as possible out of this guy and bet big.
Is this spot not a really exploitative spot and not a GTO spot vs players like this and we don't get the right information with the solver without node locking his callingstation like fishy tendencies.

I run it also in H2N enter image description here

looks like my population is overfolding vs Rangebet on Highcard, Highcard, X.

Jan. 13, 2021 | 9:44 a.m.

HawksWin how do u determine how the population is x/f, x/r in different spots? could u explain it a little bit? Or do u have any artikel or vid which explains it?

Jan. 12, 2021 | 8:20 a.m.

so u think despite its a call down solver would do, population is underbluffing these spots that call down gets -EV?

Jan. 12, 2021 | 7:35 a.m.

@ all thx for the answers!
PierreNormand I don't know villain good enough to know if he would bet here only for value or also as a bluff or even turning JTs- KJs into a bluff to get folds from QQ-KK what my line looks like.

Jan. 11, 2021 | 7:51 p.m.

I don´t like to b/f or b/c so I decided to let his range wide and let him bluff and play it way ahead way behind.
How would u have played the hand and why?

thx RaoulFlush. What bet sizes do you use when u C-Bet polar? IP and OOP? Atm I use only 50% PS.

I choose to bet selective here and GS+OC+ BDFD is nice to have it my bluffing range
1. Would you range bet OTF or more polarized and if so what size?

7d OTT is brickish enought and doesn't uncap Villians range
2. Would you barrel OTT and if so what size?

Hero?

In this Hand we have a lot of marginal hands to bet 9x to 55-88 (20%) which speaks for rangebet but villians range has a huge nut advantage which speaks for betting selective...

Hero:

Villian:

I find no clear answer which betting strategy I should fallow... so I think we have a range check spot here like the T62rb spot.

Nov. 5, 2020 | 6:25 p.m.

It depends on the range you have. A83 from BTN vs BB you will have lots of 8x and 3x. But look at your UTG range. There's much less 8x and I guess no 3x outside of A3. So there are less marginal hands. So there's less range betting.

A general rule would be the earlier your position the more your strategy goes so 50% betting frequency and 50% potsize.<

so If I raise UTG and BU cold calls on a Board like Ts6c2d I would C-bet selective. Bc we have nearly no 2x and very less 6x and 33 44 88 and 99. so very less marginal hands which wanna bet. --> selective betting strategy.
But we have a tone of over cards. So I would mix OCs with Backdoors into my selective betting strategy.
What do think?

thx Chris

As you can see in the ranges both players have similar 2p+. The PFR does have more strong hands after that in AA, KK, AQ, KQ. So why are we selective cbetting?<

You mean unselective and range bet?

The reason is that our 7x, 3x and some weaker pocket such as 88, 99 benefit a lot from betting to make villain fold overcards.
We call these "marginal hands" that want to bet. The more these marginal hands want to bet the smaller our cbet size becomes and the higher our cbet frequency. So at a certain point enough 2nd pair, 3rd pair hands want to bet that we are range cbetting. This is what happens here.<

So that mean flops with one High card and a medium and low card or 2 low cards like
K95
A83
T42
are those flop we range bet?

Am I correct that the distribution of these marginal hands is somewhat static?

thx man 😊

Post | ChV posted in Courses Forum: Episode 7 selective vs unselective c-Betting.

Hi guys,

I love this course thx a lot Peter!

now I have some questions.

First my Ranges
Bu opening range:

BB cold call range:

EQ BU open vs BB cold call:

Now I have some questions:

On the unselective C-Betting slide:

  1. Q♠7♥3♣ : very dry. and we range bet. the EQ of the BU drops very slightly only from 54.774% to 53,995% why do we range bet? Bc our EQ preserves on that flop plus the absence of draws, the nutadvantage with Overpairs and Set QQ and bc of villain has a hard time to play his mediocre stuff like 88 7x 44-66?

  2. 8♠4♦2♦ :EQ of the BU range drops slightly from 54.774% 54,429% so the EQ advantage of the BU-range preserves. At the first glance the board looks like a selective C- Betting board. If u guys look at my ranges BB range hits quit well this flop. I don’t know if preserving is enough of an argument to justify a range bet.

2.1. Is there a EQ threshold were we switch from range betting to polarized betting?

Selective C-Betting slide:

  1. J♠8♠7♣:the EQ of the BU range increase very slightly only from 54.774% to 55,036% looks like a board we could go eighter way... but I suppose we bet selective bc of the tremendous amount of runouts we face on the turn and river.

4.K♥Q♣T♥:the EQ of the BU range increase from 54.774% to 56.011% . So looks for me more as a candidate to bet unselective.

thx for discussing guys!!

Regards
Chris
