great video. I am excited to go through the whole series. Have you read 'The Art of Learning' by Josh Waitzkin? I highly recommend it. There's some great parts with regards to the fixed mindset Vs growth mindset stuff. Thanks for inspiring a fellow Kingstonian!

hey Im interested in joining if you are still looking for anyone to study with(?). I reckon I am at a similar skill level and I play similar stakes. Also in Canada, playing full time for at least the summer. I will be out of town until next week, but I will message you with my details!

tanksfornothing was a great one a friend had, and he often used his time bank until it folded for him... anything with poopoo or peepee in it works though!

hey guys, enjoyed the video!

@21:30 -  I'm not sure, but I think once you min w a 13bb stack there, Villain can expect to be getting called a lot, and I think A5o will just be dominated too often.

Being in villain's shoes, I would see the min raise representing more strength because you may just open jam all of your steals.

Do you have a R/F range there with 13bb? and does this change if antes are in play? what about 10bb?

Appreciate all thoughts!

thanks john, I like that you pointed out how he blocks AJ and A10, I hadnt considered that. I think it was a truly sick call in the end. I shall be working on my sizing and story telling.

And thank you andre for your insight and thread ending powers!

Thanks for the analysis. Originally I thought, o well lets move on, because so few ppl are capable of making that call in MTTs anyways.

I certainly didn't give enough thought to what I was actually repping. I'm still not sure this can be that great by villain unless he had a specific read on me(which is possible being the monkey I've been, although I had no notes or memory of history with him).

So, can he beat enough combos of air to make this good? wouldn't mind a math whiz's help here.

I like the idea of smaller bet sizings. Its something I've been consciously trying to work on so I'm not going broke in these spots. I think you can get away with some pretty cheap bluffs in the right spots.

I think the reason I went with those sizes is because generally I will try to bluff in a similar way that I would be betting for value there. Since I would likely go this big for max value, I thought I should take the same sizes as a bluff. Also I find when its for their whole stack, or near to it, people have a tougher time calling off with J10high : )

Do you think having the smaller bet sizes makes it easier for him to call because he has a better price, or less likely to call because it looks stronger?

either way I see the reasons for not risking my own life with J8 high!

Hey guys,

I'm curious as to what people think of the action by both of us. On the river I figured my J8 high was no good, and he likely had many similar hands that could check fold. i thought i could rep some pairs, some 34dd type hands and that i had to bet to take it down. I'm wondering if this guy is a POW or a real wizard who gazed into my soul?

thanks for any thoughts

true, i guess it depends on how tight u think they will be playing the bubble and if u are willing to risk the 2-6bb. but of course, "you cant lose what you dont put in the pot"

you could min raise and fold to the 24bb stack? that way at least you arent at risk of bubbling, and those trying to squeeze in may fold anyways. I do agree a fold is probably the best way to go though.

I like calling preflop in spots like this (especially after seeing that this villain will 4b jam over a 5.65bb 3bet to 48bb).
I think calling allows you to do a few things.
- disguise the strength of our hand while avoidng being blown off a good hand pre
- control the size of the pot in positon
- allow short stacks behind to squeeze with weaker hands

The last point is something i always consider in a spot like this because if someone behind us does squeeze, we get a chance to see how original raiser reacts to that(more information), and if he does fold,
I think 1010 is well ahead of most shorter stack squeezing ranges so we can safely call.
I hope that makes sence, Im interested in other opionions as well!

Im a fan of everyone flatbreadpizza mentioned, but I also love MF Doom. One of the most original guys out there IMO. Theres too many rappers to mention so im gunna throw in some of my fav tracks/albums based on who made the beats!

Hey Nick, great video! excited to see the rest of the run. I'm a low-mid stakes MTT grinder/shot taker. "Dr.Octagon77" on Stars and "DanMcLaren" on FTP. Are you Canadian? I think a few years back i met a pal of yours(eric?) who lured me in with talks of staking by namedropping purecash25! haha anyways...
Im curious about the 66 hand at min 57. I find that I bust a ton of tournaments in that very same spot when one of the remaining players behind wakes up with a monster. Do you think calling and folding to a 3rd party jam could be better? I feel like that way we can avoid losing our stack to bigger pairs but still get HU with the short stack a decent amount of time without risking the rest of our chips. Would that leave us exploitable? Im not sure. Although you said the other players would know that you have a farily wide calling range there, to me calling always seemd slightly stronger than jamming because id put JJ+ in your calling range and not so much in your isolation range. What would you do with JJ+ here? Is jamming it in fine or would you be calling more to allow weaker hands to come over top? Also curious what your thoughts are on if any remaining villains have 77-99. Do they fold to your isolation and if so would they also fold if you just called? hope that made sence, appreciate any thoughts!

I mostly agree with grayson, but I wouldnt necessarily discount AA or KK from his range. Ive seen a few old guys/fish at live games open ship AA pre because they "never win with AA" or got tired of limping with them and getting outdrawn, so they go to the opposite end and start jamming. That being said i think id call JJ+ and maybe fold AK because i feel like you would either be flipping or diminated, and with a soft feild and 50bb you may find some better spots to chip up.

Great video sir! I'm an Ontario native, if you are ever in the Kingston area drop me a line. I'd love to see some videos of small-mid stakes tournaments, or possibly a video of the $1 60kgtd rebuys on Stars(If you guys ever play them). I think they have an interesting dynamic. Thanks,
