Hey Emty! There aren't comments available on it, but I just wanted to thank you for the awesome work you've done on the FTGU PLO course! I started it within the last 48 hours, and have already had it pay dividends at the table.

I just wanted to send you a personal thank you! Going to cut this short so those with comments on this video shine through. :) GREAT JOB, THANK YOU, SIR! <3

Not too many hands tonight since I posted the graph, but a VERY positive session, and I can definitely feel my EV rising, as I was thinking of/using multiple things that Emty teaches in his course.

After 10,507 hands, we are now running at +26.40 BB/100 over the sample. (I created a new database when I began the prop bet bankroll challenge with my friend.) I had never played PLO seriously, and certainly not as my main game, before this sample began.

I'm going to be working very hard on Emty's course, and continuing to invest in myself and building and improving my game.

I had finished last evening on a bit of a downswing, and it continued until early in this session, but I felt I did a very good job of losing the minimum on the pots I lost, and then I did a really good job extracting this evening once the run-good tables had turned!

Our BB/100 went up nearly a full 7 BB/100 during this quality session. I'm deciding if I'm going to restart my stream tomorrow, or wait a few more days, but I'm definitely excited to stream, and I am definitely looking forward to getting back at it tomorrow. I've never been more excited about poker in my life, even pre-Black Friday. We'll have several hours of study tomorrow, and then hopefully another great session!

I hope all of you have a pleasant evening, and we'll see you tomorrow! (Post edited solely for grammatical reasons!)

I'm more than willing to join up and participate, and I already have a Discord as well, but I see hargunaney has already offered his up.

Please feel free to IM me, or e-mail me at [email protected] -- I currently play PLO50 and PLO100 on PokerStars Michigan, game selecting between the two levels.

I'm currently in the process of doing Thomas Emter's "From the Ground Up - PLO" here on site, and I've also completed Dylan Weisman's "PLO Launchpad" on Upswing, so I've received a lot of recent coaching and feel I can be a good addition to your group!

I'm 42 years old, as well, so a mature player who won't go crazy on you gents. :D

Thanks!

Thanks very much, Phil Galfond, and thank you very much, Demondoink!

I see I can post a graph on here, I had overlooked the "Image" button in the mini-editor here. :) I will definitely keep track and update on my progress, and I will let everyone know when I am returning full-time to the stream, as well. I've pretty much got everything setup how I wanted, I just wanted to get more well-versed in the metagame so I didn't embarrass myself on stream. :) My channel is at https://twitch.tv/dreamkrusherjay -- If it isn't allowed to post my channel link here, please forgive me, but I assumed it would be OK in a personal thread!

This is the first 10,250 hands since I started my bankroll challenge and bet with my friend, and the true beginning of my PLO career, as while I played it before, it wasn't "seriously" and at those times I'd never thought I would convert it to be my main game.

We have run 19.68 BB/100 to start my journey, and long may it continue. Here's the graph, and I'll continue to update the thread with my graphs and more poker talk into the future!

Thanks again for making a guy feel welcome!

Thank you HeavyMask and a Thank You and a "Wow, that's awesome" that you commented on my post, Phil Galfond!

I am so very sorry to hear about the passing of your father. :( I was extremely lucky to have had my father for the time I did, as you are yours, and even though they are now gone, we both have memories that will last us a lifetime. I won't tell you it ever feels better, because that's bullshit and I won't lie to you, but we definitely get better at dealing with it the further we go in life, remembering the amazing times we had with them. You definitely have an open inbox over this way if ever you feel the need to talk to someone who understands, but isn't in your day-to-day life. That helped me a lot even as I got into my twenties, because I was angry over what took my father from us, and honestly always will be.

Your advice is fantastic advice, as the games certainly are exponentially harder than in 2011! I've definitely got tempered expectations, and we're just going to take things one day at a time, but especially since we found our way to Run It Once, the wife and I are both very excited at what poker holds for us in the future. TOO MANY players who have found success in the game in the past assume that they have "made it" and think they no longer have to study or keep trying to learn and improve. I definitely know that is not the case, and I added From the Ground Up - MTT to the products I've purchased in the past few days onto my account. Mostly for my wife, but I'll definitely be using it as well. :)

Even before reading your comment, I'd already felt like I found a community where the fact that we spent money was valued, and one where we felt welcome. Customer service is a lost art in this world, but you've got no worries about that with your team. Give whoever runs your Twitter extra ice cream this week, as they're quite an asset. :D

I actually follow your lovely wife on Twitter as well, and she has definitely become a KRUSHER like you, I've noticed. :) (I actually had to hit the follow button, I had went to show my wife that you had an awesome poker player as a wife as well, and noticed I hadn't actually followed her yet, I had just noticed her account in conversation with another player the other day! She's got another follower now!) :) I told Krystal (my wife) that she has poker goals now, her endboss goal is to get to 100/200 PLO like Farah. :)

My wife had known about my poker past and the success I'd had, which while it pales next to yours, was definitely very important in my life and who I am today... and it felt truly amazing to be able to back up the history lesson with actual poker, but NEVER in my WILDEST DREAMS did I ever think Krystal would take up poker. She dislikes gambling, but luckily, she had seen Rounders enough even before I came into the picture to know that "poker isn't gambling, and I'm not that wet blanket Gretchen Mol!" :D

With Run It Once, she's even more positive and excited about how far SHE can potentially go in the game, and she was massively excited when she heard I was purchasing the FTGU MTT course. For someone that wants to avoid reading if possible, due to her dyslexia, she said it is a godsend for her, and she can't wait to get into the content and accelerate her learning curve! Thanks again for having put together such an amazing team, and being a training site that handles so many different poker formats. I came for PLO, we're staying because there's no reason to ever leave. ;)

Sorry for the novel, but it isn't every day you get a letter from one of your idols, so I wanted to make sure I responded to the very kind letter you wrote, especially the part about your beloved father. Definitely feel free to message anytime, you've got a friend with a friendly ear over here anytime you might wish it!

I wish you and your lovely wife a great evening, and thanks again for everything!

My wife did an amazing job tonight, as she nearly shipped a $15 Bounty Builder on Stars Michigan, finishing 2nd out of 167 entrants (249 total entries) for $322.89. She won another $25.82 in bounties, and she was only in for the initial buyin of $15, for around a $333 profit!

I've treaded water this evening, right around our peak for the last 9,500 hands. I've been extremely card-dead, but I've been able to minimize my losses in several spots that were great (multiple times I saw the hands against other all-in players and made the right laydown.)

The wife is really starting to roll, I think I'm going to get her the From the Ground Up - MTT version, as with her dyslexia and hatred of math, she loves video or audio-book learning. I figured out a way for her to have the poker books she reads come through as audio books -- her first book was Kill Everyone, and she's almost completely finished with it, but I have quite the library.

I am honestly more excited about my wife becoming a krusher than I am my own further education and play. I didn't expect her to take this journey with me, and it has truly been awesome.

I hope I added onto my thread in the correct way! I'm still maintaining a 22.80 bb/100 over my last 9,523, so tonight has been great so far. About to finish my night with a video of From the Ground Up - PLO, and call it a night!

Hello!

My name is Jason (Jay to my friends and those in the poker world) and I go by DreamKrusherJay on PokerStars Michigan these days! I didn't see a subforum specifically for introductions to the community, but this looked like it might be a nice place for it. :)

I'm in my early 40s, and I will have been married to my beautiful wife for four years this July! (We've been together for ten years this November!)

2011... we met and got together just a few short months after Black Friday had torn my life apart. :( I was a very solid winning player before that April and made almost all of my income from the game. It was also right around this time that I was put on full disability permanently, due to multiple auto-immune conditions. (I can walk and everything, please don't fret on it!)

I dabbled a bit on ACR and Bovada over the years, but I just never truly felt safe, so I didn't play "for real" for nearly 10 years.

I used to be the general manager and main floor of a charity poker room in Michigan, and not bragging, but what I built felt like the best room in the state of Michigan. I built the room up to where we were getting 200 players for my Friday night $30 buyin MTT. I did play cash during this time period, but I worked too much to really do much of anything live. Once I became disabled, not having poker was honestly one of the most depressing things ever in my life, outside of losing my father at the age of 11. He passed away from his exposure to Agent Orange, during his three tours of heroic service in Vietnam, as a Gunnery Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps. The hereditary effects of his poisoning are the reason why my health situation is the way it is, and I honestly can't do much else to help contribute outside of SSD other than poker.

Then PokerStars was legalized in Michigan. Honestly, I don't think I've ever felt better as both a person, and a player. The best part of it coming back was that my wife has taken up the game, and is allowing me to coach her. She'd always played the freebie, Zynga and WSOP apps, but she had never played a hand of poker for money.

That changed on April 29th. :D She has already won her first MTT, a $5 Bounty Builder on Stars, and she now has 14 final tables! I really couldn't be prouder. She is both dyslexic and someone that hates math generally, so it has been difficult, but she has been making very obvious improvements, especially in her preflop play, and her short-stack play.

Anyway, when I came back, I knew I was going to have to really dig into GTO and adapt my game in a massive way to adjust to the new meta-game that exists now, that most certainly did NOT exist up to April 15, 2011.

I wound up purchasing a different product from a different site, and while it is good content, their only forum appears to be a Facebook group, which I do not use, and even though in the product the author says to "ask questions", he wouldn't even answer a single basic one when I contacted him on Twitter. I had already planned on joining here at RIO, and while I don't feel it was money wasted, I definitely didn't feel welcomed at all by them. It wound up that there is a Discord, and there's some good guys on there, but they are just other customers like me. :(

Now, I get it, these high-level players are very busy, but if you're not willing to answer a single question about your product (and I passed along some quality feedback, when I asked) I'm certainly not going to sign up for your advanced product at ten times the cost...

While I don't have any hard feelings toward the content creator in question, it accelerated my purchase of my Elite membership here at RIO, along with PLO Vision! Even more, the fine people here at RIO actually welcomed me to the community on Twitter, as a fellow poker Tweeter had asked who your idols/hero in the game were -- and mine are Doyle Brunson and Phil Galfond. Doyle for obvious reasons, I would think, but it was Phil's PLO play, demeanor, class, and outright balls that got me wanting to switch all of my cash play to PLO!

I wish I would have just spent the extra money and bought FTGU in the first place, along with Vision, but you live and you learn. I'm purchasing FTGU later today to go with my Elite membership and PLO Vision, and I'm ready to work my ass off, and to be active in this community!

Since this is a Journals subforum, I guess I'll just turn this from an introduction into my RIO Journal. :) It is nice to meet everyone, and I apologize for the novel for my first post, but I've been a writer all of my life and I guess a more thorough introduction was appropriate now that I'm just going to use this as a journal. :D

Thank you all for this amazing resource!

Regards,
Jay (DreamKrusherJay on PokerStars Michigan)
