Post | JayeDog posted in NLHE: AsJs 4bet pot 600BB deep

Hey guys, would love some feedback on some optimal lines in this 4bet pot. It’s a home game with both players around 600BB deep. Hero has AsJs in the BB. Villain is loose aggressive and has a very light 3bet range. I have been 3betting him a lot. I 4bet his 3bet from the SB because it seemed like a good spot to isolate him and play a big pot in position against his weaker range.

The flop 3h-3d-2h seems good for my 4bet range cos I have the big overpairs so I cbet it. However I face a check raise here and am unsure of how to proceed. It seems like an underbluffed spot here in a 4bet pot against my strong 4bet range, but there are some draws on this board and villain is very loose aggressive. Given our dynamic should I have continued here and reevaluated the turn?

Or would a better play have been to check flop and call a turn bet if villain bets the turn and reevaluate river cards.

I tanked the river for ages and folded. He showed Ah8h.

CO: hero 450ish AsQc
HJ: villain covers
Preflop: villain open raises to 7, hero 3bet to 20, everyone folds, villain 4bet to 50, hero calls
Flop 100: Td7d5s villain chks, hero chks
Turn 100: Jc villain bet 50, hero calls
River 200: 5c villain bet 125, hero??

I had been 3 betting villain a few times in position during the session so I suspected he could be out of line with this 4bet. His standard pre flop raise size was 7. Given our stack depth I think every street up to the river is probably standard, but on the river is this a good spot to hero call?

I beat all the Ax suited 4 bet bluffs except for AK. AJ would probably flat the 3 bet. I block QQ and AA. I feel like his only credible value hands are maybe KK or JJ that played tricky and checked the flop. Interested to hear thoughts.

Yeh in hindsight probably bet turn to setup a river shove or check call is better

This game plays more like 1/2 game given the preflop raise sizes. BU covers me.

HJ: XX
BU: loose aggressive villain, frequently stabs at pots with middling hands Q3o
BB: Hero 200 AdKc
Preflop: limper Hj raises to 8, BU calls, Hero 3bets to 30, both call
Flop: pot ~ 90ish. 7h8d9d. Not a good flop for me I check and everyone checks behind
Turn: 3d. I pick up a backdoor diamond flush draw. Checked to villain, he bets 35, hero check raises all in 170, villain calls

I think villain likes to outplay me. We have a bit of a history where he calls my 3bets with fairly weak holdings. When he checks behind on that flop I thought he was def weak. With the 3d on the turn i thought he would stab if checked to, and a check raise would be preferable to leading turn, or check calling. Given the size of the pot and my stack size I decided an all in would work best. I could even be ahead if he had something like KdX or QdX. Afterwards he said he called because he didn’t think I would play a value hand like this and put me on AdX. Maybe true I would probably check call or lead turn with AA or KK with a single diamond. But I probably only bet that flop with a flush draw if I had 3bet broadway diamonds that contained a Jd or Td. So I could have some flushes when played this way, but hard to say what I would have done with AdKd or KdQd.

Anyways just wanted to get some thoughts on what the optimal line is in a spot like this on the turn in order to balance your range.

fair point about the 4 bet, next time I will flat. Villain was pretty loose so I thought he could continue with worse.

Game is 8 handed:
Hero UTG with AcQc: ~$380 deep
Villian button: Has hero covered
SB: ~125ish

Villian tends to overplay top pair type hands- in one hand i had KK on 8JQr, pot was 30 and he check raised my flop bet of 10 to 55. Haven't seen him 3bet much, but will tend to raise-call big 3 bets with weakish holdings. I'd say he has a loose-ish image.

Hero raises UTG to $3, villan 3bets to $12 on the button. SB cold calls the 3bet. SB is very loose and will frequently cold call 3bets. With the dead money and villain potentially 3betting me light on the button I decide to 4bet to $40. Villain thinks for a bit and 5bets me to $120. Is this spot a standard call and continue with AQs given that I am getting around 2.2:1 (calling 80 and the pot is around 175)?.

In the hand I ended up folding since I didn't think he would be 5 bet bluffing me with something like Ax suited. I thought it was too likely that his 5bet range had me crushed.
