Thanks for your comments man!

Hand 1: what you say about having some turn bets after floating makes sense. I think the best flop float is 87 with BDFD. It's probably OK to occasionally float with QJ/QT/JT with BDFD. Turn bet with my hand seems good - we get value from a sticky JJ/TT/99. On river, blocking villain's 2nd best K is nice although guess AK and AA are still in his range.

Hand 2: agreed. The more I look at the hand, the more I think its spewy. Villain is uncapped so my line is dicey. Got a bit caught up on thinking turns are never c/r'd as a bluff at these stakes so we get credit. If we play QJ as a turn c/r though, we do need a few bluff combos.

Hand 3: fold to the squeeze is definitely an option and probably the action that should be taken most frequently pre. In-game on the flop, I was torn between call and raise, I think there is merit to both.

Hand 4: Actually misread/misremembered the hand in my initial post and thought the A hit the turn (which would be a higher frequency turn cbet for us). I think on the river, as you say, if we think villain goes thin with weaker Ax that floated flop then the check is good. But we get owned if he checks back an A. He will sometimes show up with a hand like TT that is just not putting any more money in the pot no matter what we do.

Will definitely take notes in PT4 when I'm back on my computer. Actually just realised that as well as every hand going to showdown, there's no losing hands there. Variance was positive last night - ran ridiculously well and seemed to win all the big pots, be on the right side of coolers etc.

Post | Spencey91 posted in NLHE: Some hands from session.

Have just played a session of 16nl zoom and thought I would post some interesting hands from the session to hear folk's thoughts. Recently got back into poker after not playing a hand for years due to focusing on my studies. Currently rolled for 25nl but playing lower as being down-swinging a bit and lost some confidence. The session I just played is getting me back on track though, feel I played my A-game.

This hand, preflop vs the 3b I mix between 4bet and flat. Against the fishy small sizing, it is probably best to just go ahead and 4bet so possibly made a mistake there. On flop, I have a mandatory call obv. In-game on the turn, I felt that my hand is worth two streets so the choice was bet turn, check back river or check back turn and bluffcatch or value bet river. I liked the second option as we induce some river bluffs with the turn check back. On river, I felt pretty good about bet/call as felt villain's line was full of bs. I guess he may occasionally show up with 88, but was happy with the call.**

I wasn't actually too sure what to do on the river here. I felt on turn at these stakes, turns are so rarely check/raise bluffed that we get a lot of credit for this line. Obviously it's nice to block TT and QJ here so felt I had a nice combo to turn into a bluff. River may be dicey as villain probably just sigh calls down with AK but we get folds from KQ. Happy to hear people's thoughts here as may be best to give up river.

This call down was all about removal effects. I didn't think villain ever plays overpairs like this on that runout. I liked my hand as a bluff-catcher as it blocked TT and QJs (if villain ever squeezes with this). Obviously it's always dicey calling down with my hand in a 400bb pot but felt right in-game because of my removal.

This hand I felt I should be betting range (or close to it) on the flop. When cbetting flop so much, I think in theory we should have a ton of turn checks and good to include the nuts in that range. Obviously the A is good for our range though so it is probably good to do a lot of c-betting. In-game I rolled low with my RNG so decided to play my hand as a turn check with the intention of check/raising. When he checks on the turn, wasn't sure whether or not I should lead river or continue with the trap. Decided on the latter, which worked out. Obviously unlucky for him that he also had such a nutted hand.

Reason I dislike peeling the 3b is because Niia can and (believe me) will, fire blankly at nearly every runout to put me under a lot of ICM pressure. And 88 is definitely a hand that is vulnerable if we go to the streets.

After speaking the hand over with a few people, it seems my biggest mistake in the hand is my 4b sizing. By making it so small, it induces jams from a lot of hands that would have maybe thought twice had I made it 2.8-3m. Also, the huge 4b overjam is also an option. I really don't think there's a point in the hand I can fold, we have a monster 3handed vs a hugely aggressive player. If played again, I would either 4bj or 4bet bigger but still call off.
