Thallo apologies i accidentally flagged your comment! If the Admins are reading this please ignore.
For HH Review, I dont have PLO on PT4 yet, would you recommend that would be best way to capture or just to save from whatever site i am using. Tends to be mix of Stars RIO and GG at moment, though 888 has started PLO and seems pretty soft

I Like the comment of Tommy Angelo about running bad, something along the lines of the streak only exists in your mind, there are only the cards in front of you that matter. Hard to do after that kind of battering though!

ouch thats rough! lets hope to get the worst runs out of the way at low stakes before moving up lol!

I'm just organising my thoughts following the most brutal week of poker i've ever had. After a steady climb in PLO at a mix of PLO2,5 &10, I have lost about 30 buy ins across those stakes in the matter of a few days, with 80% of that all in by river with 70%+ Equity, only to be sucked out on the river again and again and again. 20% of losses towards end were no doubt tilt related ;-)

I dont want this to be a bad beat moan, so a couple of thoughts/questions. I know variance is higher at PLO, but is that typical or just some seriously bad luck?

I had effective nuts on flop or turn each time, so was piling in the cash as i would in NLHE to either get paid off by draws or price them out and take pot down so is that the right tactic still at PLO or should i be more cautious? (However hands with 2 pair/top or over pair where i was being more cautious i still got stiffed on the river a lot this week!)

Also, i was playing on Zoom on Pokerstars, is this kind of result more likely in that format?

Luckily it is micros rather than a shot at higher stakes so bankroll can take a £100+ hit quite happily, just wondered what if anyone had any comments or perspective on it.

thanks!
Tom

Message for PLOMO. interested to know what your journey has been like after this post 8 years on. Are you still playing PLO? crushing at higher stakes etc?
If you're still playing and have moved up i'd like to connect and pick your brains on some of the lessons you learned as i am at similar stage as to your post!

thanks, some good food for thought there. I should clarify that i'm not looking to build a roll through Micro's, but playing while learning and ensuring that I can at least have a win rate at that level before moving up.
I'll definitely look into it once i've completed FTGU and am more confident at the fundamentals.
I'm UK based so can access most EU/global sites and online casinos i assume! no access to home games. Would you have any non major playing sites you'd recommend having a look at?

its just the cost that i cant really justify at my level yet, think its about 100 USD a month, when you're playing PL5-10. Its definitely a tool that will help me break into and solidify at higher stakes, but i'm still studying fundamentals, so wondering if there is a more cost effective tool or resource at this stage?

Post | Tommythec75 posted in PLO: When to invest in Monker

Hi, I am starting out transition from micro stakes NLHE to PLO. I am part way through from the ground up and have positive win rate at PLO5 currently, with aspirations to move to mid stakes and make a decent side income as a hobby.

Monker looks great but at 500 USD is a steep investment, would anyone recommend another source of study around ranges in interim? till I can justify that level of spend through winnings!

I mainly want to familiarize myself with ranges at varying % to lock in what is being discussed in FTGU

Thanks!
