Good video again Henry. In terms of stakes, online do you just play zoom? Clearly zoom will have a much stronger player pool in general (than the normal tables) so I assume this will impact variance quite a bit?

Thanks - for the pointers. Agreed Stars are taking the Michael really.

Will definitely get a good PC tower. I already have a big Dell widescreen which my laptop is hooked up to via HDMI cable and nice chair but definitely do need the PC asap especially with the likes of PIO and HM running. Good advice on Keyboard and gaming mouse too.

Thanks Patrick and Demondoink for the feedback which is very helpful. Over Christmas I have played c.15k of hands on Stars and can certainly say there is no shortage of fish especially in the 9 table games! Noted re rakeback on Party which is clearly a problem these days with Stars (I don't quite get the treasure chest stuff).

I am due a laptop upgrade as my Sony Vaio is still running on Vista which does not support RIO and some other sites so that is a must in the New Year! I have played on my other rather slow HP laptop in London however and enjoyed playing on RIO and the STP was a neat addition which seemed to create a lot of action. I hope the site does well long term.

Cheers guys.

Hi Patrick,

Great video and impressive results. I agree with table selection being the single most important factor especially with the increasing rake environment. The integrity point also hit home given that Absolute Poker still owe me over £1k - thankfully I got most of my funds out about before it collapsed but not sure why I left so much money on a untrustworthy poker site! I wish I'd seen a video like this 10 years ago.

Personally I'm coming back to poker after a few years away due to working in London and playing golf at weekends/spare time. Admittedly my game is rusty, I played most of my volume between 2009 and 2013 when games were clearly much softer (on PS mainly 50nl where I won at around 4.5bb/100 over c.400k hands - I did not track my results on Absolute Poker because this was before I had HM but I won a similar amount albeit the games were much softer on there, rake lower and my edge bigger but that was mainly at 10nl to 25nl). I was overly cautious on the bankroll front when I was at university and my biggest regret is not playing more and moving up quicker when the games were so soft! However, I'm now moving back home and getting a local job so can play a lot more poker and golf - thankfully I also have more money than in the uni days which will encourage me to move up the stakes provided I can beat the games at a decent rate again.

In terms of sites you play on, I note that Stars now has a 4 table cap on ring games so which other sites do you play on? Also do you play 6 or 9 handed tables or both (I like ante games the most tbh)? I'm not interested in playing zoom which as you say is very reg heavy and not enjoyable IMO due to the lack of game dynamics with such a large player pool. I've tried Party this week but that is more reg heavy than Stars. I live in England.

I also noted that you said you tend to play more during the day but I have always found more action at the evenings so have tended to favour that time. I appreciate that the girlfriend is a factor here :)

All the best for the New Year and keep up the good work.

Interesting stuff but I would say with the 888 player pool being so weak (I mean terrible at 30nl especially) I would be at least a c.7-8BB/100 compared with Stars where I am around 3BB/100. As a result, that's why I feel it is a near impossibility to lose 20 Buy in around 5-6k hands without something funny going on.

Only way to find out is to put in more hands but I would be interested to hear if anyone has experience of 888 on RIO. I will compare Stars and 888 once I have a bigger sample and put up my results.

Sure I fully understand that is common even for a player with a decent edge. However, the players on 888 are much worse than Stars and therefore to lose c.20 buy ins circa 5k hands seems rather crazy. I have played millions of hands online so I have had a lot of swings before but nothing ever like this.

Anyway I will play a bunch on Stars and compare the results with 888. It just feels very odd on 888, for instance the way the hands play out and also there appear to be no consistent winning regs from reviewing my Hodlem Manager which is rather odd.

Thanks for feedback but you try 888 and you'll see what I mean. The site is rigged 100pc.

Hi,

I just started grinding again after a little time out of the game getting my finance exams and playing a lot of golf! I ran up my account to $1000 on 888 poker playing mainly 30nl and 50nl (over c.15k hands) and the player pool is full of fish (even on zoom) so I thought online poker was really soft and profitable again!! However, once I withdrew $200 I noticed almost immediately a change in the way the cards were coming out and then after a few more thousand hands of break even poker, I just started getting sucked out on left right and centre and would just never have the best hand at showdown. I lost virtually all my profit on the 50nl zoom tables over just c.6-8k in hands (so a very quick 20 buy in downswing).

I am highly confident something very fishy is going on 888 because I have been a successful low stakes player for a number of years, steadily beating 25nl to 100nl although mainly at Stars for several years (mainly between 2013 & 2015) and prior to pre Black Friday on Absolute Poker albeit the players were all donks there back in 2009-10 :) And while admittedly my game is a little rusty I have a very large edge on the players at 888 as they in the main are terrible (far greater than Stars who have a lot of decent regs naturally even at 25-50nl). I just wanted to know if anyone else has played here and experienced something similar? I know bots are an issue these days but this seemed far worse than a bot issue.

Anyway I will start up again at Stars and hopefully run a little better. Looking forward to the RunItOnce site launching and really hope it will be a huge success as online poker is crying our for a new and legit site with a fair rake system which naturally kills low stakes players (especially live cash along with the slow pace of play!).

Cheers,

Elliot
