Bad news: My Big Blind Positional winrate is absolutely atrocious.
Good news: First step is admitting you have a problem.

Create the following drills
BB VS BTN Facing 33% Cbet
BB VS BTN Facing 75% Cbet
BB VS UTG Facing 33% Cbet
BB VS UTG Facing 100% Cbet
Create simplified heuristics for these spots using gtow and anki.
The spots are yoinked from IAmNeo's journal and the study method is from a Freenachos rio video.
My play from the Big Blind over my sample has been too passive/nitty. My goal is to flip the script. I would rather be over aggressive as a player to put my opponents in tough spots.

Hey firstly I wanna say good luck, we are in a similar position and I root for anyone that has a goal and tries to pursue it.
I wanna comment on something you wrote
The difference with poker is that everyone starts when they are (roughly) 18, so I am not already 15 years behind everybody who is good and simply can't compete.
There is no difference. If you are truly passionate about poker and give it your all age is absolutely irrelevant. Do not cap yourself mentally, you had a similar sentiment in regards to chess and quit. There are plenty who have begun activities/sport later in life and have become champions.
Again good luck, I will be following with your progress!

Ran pretty well this month, played like a moron. For whatever reason I didn't feel like folding but that's been remedied lol. Volume was also whatever due to the holidays. Next month I hope to get 20-30k hands and begin my 50nl shot.
Also I am gonna transition to reg tables only. I saw this Tweet from Patrick Howard and decided to give it a try. In all honestly I seem to be able to focus more and feel less drained at the end of my session compared to playing zoom. So going forward my goal will be to play 4 reg tables for 1k hands a night and then set myself up to be able to review the relevant hands the next day while I am at work.
In other news I am finishing up the audiobook recommended in Freenachos journal "Grit" It has been very eye opening to say the least and I have thoroughly enjoyed it. If you haven't read/listened to it I highly recommend it. I will probably pick up the other books recommended and hope they are as good as the last.

I've been playing poker on and off for a few years. During covid I managed to get to 100nl and win small over a decent sample. I ended up taking a shot at 200nl and despite it going well I can honestly say I wasn't ready to be a 200nl reg. Could I have eeked out a very small winrate at 200nl? Possibly. But I want to feel confident in my game if I am going to be a regular at a specific stake.
Due to unfortunate circumstances this year I had to withdraw my whole poker bankroll to help pay some bills. I deposited recently with the intention of climbing back up to my previous stakes and beyond. I am Currently playing 25nl
Results so far
Goals for 2023 and beyond
First and foremost is getting healthier. I will continue to eat clean and make time to exercise.
Apply to CFP - I've made initial contact with the target CFP
Beat 25nl - In progress
Beat 50nl - Should be taking shots soon
Beat 100nl - My previous stake where I feel comfortable
Beat 200nl - Very doable
Beat 500nl - Will be hard work, but also doable.
Another goal is to quit my job and go full time with Poker.
I work fulltime and usually play 3-4 hours after I get home and eat dinner.
I have a job with quite a lot of downtime so during those times I study poker related material and also work on my mental game with various resources.
This journal will be for the purpose of cataloging my goals/progress and random bs that comes to mind.
Run it once has a storied history of inspiring threads.
Hopefully mine will be the next one up
