Pre Flop: UTG(great player) opens 109hh, Button calls. Blinds Fold

I noticed that the UTG player was always checking these boards. Mainly check folding. What is the theory behind this check??

I thought these Ace boards are great for UTG, and therefore expected a small cbet, to try and win the pot. But the great players
seem to have a strong checking range on these boards, many check folds.
