Good rule of thumb is to have at least 100 times whatever you buy-in for for cash games for NLH.

Post | Mushmellow posted in Chatter: Sleep cycle always shifting?

Does anyone else have trouble keeping a regular sleep cycle? I find I always keep going to bed, 1 hour later each day and then I always end up becoming nocturnal. So then I try to fix it by trying to fall asleep early. But then I waste time laying in bed at 2am and not falling asleep. Then I get back up and grind more, maybe watch some Netflix and eat Eggo waffles.

Fall asleep around 7am. Is there any hope for this?

These type of transactions are very tricky without a trusted escrow. It's usually better to just pay the 5% fee.

Solvers don't actually work. Toy game you set up in a solver is not the actual game being played. People are fantasizing over these like the new Atkin's diet, when time should really be spent in mental game study and soft skills. >>>>>> GTO hog wash~~

100+ buy ins before you play a stake, you need to live by this rule or die by variance. You only have the choice once.

You can't play enough hands to realize your EV in these spots if your bankroll has a high % of dipping below 0. You can run some sims to see but even if you have a huge edge in these games Risk of Ruin is always higher than we like.

Good luck!

I wonder what this means for sites like WPN? Also operates in US and even states like Nevada that Bovada doesn't allow people to play in.

Any ideas on what might happen next? Second Black Friday? Player funds?

Post | Mushmellow posted in NLHE: Knowing when to give up

How do we know when it is a good idea to stop shotting a limit? If every shot you take at a limit fails, when do we eventually stop shotting that limit and just stay at the stake we have a winning sample for.

Does this mean we just should never play higher than that stake? Can we never improve beyond this?

Best not to focus on knitpicking preflop too much, the cuspy parts of the range are breakeven so it doesn't really matter what you do with them. It won't effect your bottom line at all.

Postflop is wayyyyyy more important :))

Played well this match. Quick question on your cbet strategy in single raised pots. It looks like you are using 3 sizings. From the looks of it, each board you play has 1 sizing with your whole range on the flop?

What do you think about splitting your range on the flop into 3 different ranges (1 with each of your sizes) on each flop instead of 1 sizing per flop based on the board texture.

Thanks for the great video and good to see the games still soft even on the "tougher" sites~

Regarding preflop ranges, does anyone has any suggestions for basic VPIPs vs different raise sizes?

For example BB 3bet and VPIP vs 2x raise, 2.5x raise, 3x raise?

What are the most common sizings as a PFR? What might be a reasonable PFR % for a 2.5x preflop raise?

Thanks!

But I can somehow tell that, from the lack of ignitive motivation and
my general philosophy, setting monetary goals, or even career goals,
should never be on the top of my priority list. For, that would make
me do this just for making more money, and ultimately deprive me of
freedom and enslave me to money and time instead.

Very insightful! Thanks for sharing, you write very well. I feel like in our culture a lot pressure is put on men to succeed in their career path and people are quick to judge people based on income/house/car etc. I think it becomes an easy trap for us to fall into this hive mind mentality and forget that freedom (financial and time) is more important than material goods or social status.

As a PPP its easy to become trapped to grinding too much and not balancing life ranges, especially when you can control your own hours and there is action at all ours of the day. I think for me, balancing off the table is the hardest part.

Best of luck,
Mush
