Mixed Games - excellent news !

July 23, 2015 | 7:39 p.m.

Can anyone recommend a product that is suitable (user friendly) for entering hands from live play for sharing and review ? Ideally, it would be suitable for entering a selection of hands from the same tournament such that it would become a session review tool.

Thanks

Dreams shattered. Busted day 2. Gutted. Best of luck to everyone who's still in.

The dream is alive still ... bagged up on Day 1C with more than starting stack (fwiw) and hoping for a smooth Day 2. I picked up a lot of hands actually, so that helped a great deal !

The structure is just incredible ... so I can certainly afford to pick spots if those cards don't keep coming ...

Good luck to all RIO members playing the main event.

I'm looking forward to playing after quite a long gap since my last attempt. I think I'm much better prepared than on the 2 prior occasions - especially because I now have some experience of making Day2 and Day3 in long events.

Of course, to even min-cash in the ME I will need to set a new PB in terms of longevity in a tournament (unless the bubble is on Day 3 this year, which it might well be with a guaranteed 1,000 places paid).

I also feel that even the moderate investment I've made in studying the material here has improved my chances. It's a bit daunting to think of the huge amount of work that many of the modern day players have put into their game. I'm obviously hoping there are still a few uneducated players left in the field !

First job on the list is to make it to Day 2 ... that's pretty much the only order of business on Day 1 of this marathon, I reckon. Low variance lines are best, I suppose. That's not exactly my normal style, but adaptability is the most important skill in poker, IMO. I'll see what I can do ...

Thanks for the video. I'd love to see more of the actual mixed-game tournament play but obviously it is hard to fill the screen with non-NLH MTTs and we know from your work that you consider it's important to use all the screen real-estate !

I had the same question. Here's hoping for "yes". "RIO at the Rio" has such a good ring to it ...

Well, in particular, GL to Phil Galfond and James Obst on the FT of the 2-7 Event today - I'll be watching the live stream hoping to pick up some tips !

I hope we'll see some good news and great runs coming over the next few weeks. Good luck all !

I'm enjoying the series, and it is great to see all the cards and even the 3rd-party comments from players who are no longer active in each hand.

What I would have liked (maybe it is not possible) was for the screen names to have been replaced with the pros' real names. I am only just getting used to who is who from their stars IDs.

Comment | pokersmith2 commented on App for iPhone ?

OK - thanks. I'm not sure what the experience would be like on the smaller screen, but I suppose there are users viewing the web product on phones already. Also, the audio is in many ways more important than the graphics so I'm sure there will be times when getting the videos on the iPhone will be worthwhile.

I have the app on my iPad which works really well. I now have an iPhone 6 which I think might just be large enough to view videos at a pinch

I couldn't find the App for iPhone; is that deliberate (i.e not available for the iPhone) ? I assume so, but just checking ...

Thanks

Fair enough. I'm considering turning the avatars back on; the memory effect can be useful I guess.

Great content - thanks ! I had a different kind of question:

Basically - why don't you use a 4-colour deck ? Don't you find it harder to read the boards this way ? I was also surprised to see you have some animations still "on" and avatars as well. I have all these things turned off and I'm only 4-tabling at most.

Kind of an odd-ball question, I realise, but I couldn't help wondering about these practical points.

Agreed, that may well help although I feel RIO uses terms in a much more technical sense than may be revealed by this google method. I'm fairly sure some combination of that, asking questions on the vids and just familiarity will get me where I need.

But a glossary would be a good idea, I feel. Ideally, there would be links from the glossary to the core videos on the topics.

Hi; I've recently taken up an Elite subscription and I've enjoyed the videos which I've seen so far. The iPad player is a nice touch.

I'm probably an unusual subscriber insofar as I'm a keen recreational player rather than a pro/semi-pro.

In any case, because I don't have that much time to invest in study of the game, I find that there is quite a lot of jargon in the videos & comments which I am not immediately familiar with. I expect I'll pick it up over time, but I wondered if there is a place on the site where you do list out some of the more common ones (and/or a video or two that covers it).

Thanks - I look forward to learning at least some things I can use in my game.
