Thats what i figured. The blocker is the deciding factor right?

April 9, 2017 | 6:56 a.m.

Do we fold all our straights though?

April 9, 2017 | 5:27 a.m.

You don't think we can bluffcatch with our straights with strong blockers? I feel like, but could be wrong, that if we fold all straights we significantly overfold.

April 8, 2017 | 11:19 p.m.

Pre: This is a bit too loose imo. I would 3b or fold. As played, not only is one or both players likely to have a set which cuts down on your outs, you're not drawing to the nuts with your FD so you can be even less certain about your outs. I would fold.

As played pre though, how is my thought process?

April 8, 2017 | 11 p.m.

Blinds: $0.05/$0.10 (5 Players) CO: $10.08 (Hero)
BN: $10.00
SB: $10.88
BB: $18.13
UTG: $11.70
Preflop ($0.15) Hero is CO with J Q 4 A
UTG raises to $0.30, Hero calls $0.30, 2 folds, BB calls $0.20
No clue whats correct here.
Flop ($0.95) K T 3
BB bets $0.68, UTG calls $0.68, Hero calls $0.68
Is this too loose? Could this be a bluffraise spot to cover so different runouts?
Turn ($2.99) K T 3 J
BB bets $1.91, UTG calls $1.91, Hero calls $1.91
Mostly curious about this spot. With no redraw, can I jam or will I get freerolled often? Or do I have to jam and maybe puke because flush draws? Or is calling like I did and hoping for safe riv the best play?
River ($8.72) K T 3 J 7
BB bets $5.57, UTG folds, Hero raises to $7.19 and is all in, BB calls $1.62
Final Pot CO wins and shows a straight, Ten to Ace.
BB lost and shows three of a kind, Kings.
CO wins $22.12
Rake is $0.98

Hand History | rosseg posted in PLO: PLO10, PLO newb's straight faces scary turn
Blinds: $0.05/$0.10 (7 Players) CO: $9.42
BN: $5.10
SB: $7.74
BB: $7.99
UTG: $7.60
UTG+1: $13.15 (Hero)
MP: $10.00
Preflop ($0.15) Hero is UTG+1 with 9 7 T J
UTG folds, Hero raises to $0.35, MP folds, CO calls $0.35, BN calls $0.35, SB calls $0.30, BB calls $0.25
Flop ($1.75) 8 9 Q
SB bets $1.68, BB folds, Hero calls $1.68, CO calls $1.68, BN folds
Felt like just calling because of fish behind.
Turn ($6.79) 8 9 Q Q
SB bets $5.71 and is all in, Hero calls $5.71, CO folds
Thoughts:

- I am underrepped I guess
- This is one of my better straights as I have 9 blocker
- Q9/Q8/89 seems fairly unlikely as V potted flop in a very multiway flop

April 8, 2017 | 3:18 a.m.

PLO newb here, considering that we block the nuts, backdoor equity, V could (maybe not, idk) be bluffing or just have AAxx, as well as 4 outs to the nuts, is the flop call super unlikely to be unprofitable? Am I missing something?

Blinds: $0.05/$0.10 (7 Players) UTG: $8.70
MP: $9.64
UTG+1: $17.84
CO: $20.64
BN: $3.72
SB: $10.00 (Hero)
BB: $47.28
Preflop ($0.15) Hero is SB with 8 6 K 9
UTG calls $0.10, 2 folds, CO calls $0.10, BN calls $0.10, Hero calls $0.05, BB raises to $0.20, UTG calls $0.10, CO calls $0.10, BN calls $0.10, Hero calls $0.10
I figure this is a fairly trashy hand, but odds too good to fold.
Flop ($1.00) 9 T 7
Hero checks, BB checks, UTG checks, CO bets $0.48, BN folds, Hero calls $0.48, BB folds, UTG folds
Facing a half pot bet, I thought:
A) I'm very high in my range
B) He can easily have spades or QJ
C) I feel like it would be best to have 0 or 2 spades, as if you have 1 you block FD without having extra equity
D) Not having QJ unblocks bluffs
E) Backdoor FD
Turn ($1.96) 9 T 7 J
Hero checks, CO bets $1.88, Hero calls $1.88
So now this is one of the best not nut straights i can have so I figured call makes sense
River ($5.72) 9 T 7 J Q
Hero checks, CO bets $5.48, Hero calls $5.48
Hard to believe him cuz Qd Jd is on the board and I have 8d, which are the 3 most likely flush cards he can have.
To beat me, he would have to have AxQJ ddxx or KxQJ ddxx that somehow didnt raise pre, AxJ8/KxJ8 ddxx or Ax86/Kx86 ddxx.

This seems like a super thin range so I called.

What bluff combos can I have?

Dec. 26, 2016 | 8:02 p.m.

I think fish will be strong with the bet multiway and barrel. I think whether you get called or not depends on how that fish interprets flush boards

Dec. 26, 2016 | 7:54 p.m.

I assuming that you think MP doesn't have a tight opening range so he won't squeeze often. Wondering what range would cold call like this with.

Dec. 26, 2016 | 7:45 p.m.

So if I was to create a strategy here on similar dry boards, Do you think I Should be value or bluff heavy? I feel like the problem is I dont know how I could be bluffing on this board except for if I take this line with 3 combos of QJs. I guess the best thing would be not get in this spot period? What do you think would be appropriate for a sb calling range vs this preflop action? Maybe I should only have a 3bet range? What situation would you have a sb calling range?

Comment | rosseg commented on bad spot on the river

Weird spot because you should cbet small alot of your hands on that board, especially in this hand where you have only 9 high and backdoor flush and backdoor straight. When you cbet and get called, you fold out most of his air. He checks turn, you check back. Now if he bets river, he has Kx, 6x, missed flush draws and some floats like JT QJ. He probably checks Ax. In conclusion, if you had taken a more standard line, you could have narrowed his range enough to make an informed river decision.

When you check back flop, you have a few slowplays of 6x, maybe some of your worst Kx, A7, pocket pairs, and a ton of Ax. The 7 and the 2 do nothing for your usual flop check back range so he bluff double barrel wide if he thinks youll fold your pocket pairs to a river shove.
