Live $5/$10: Merged 3-bet vs a Good Grinder

$1100 eff. To say V and I have played a lot would be a huge understatement. He's a good TAG. Doesn't do anything special, very value heavy (I don't remember seeing him ever caught in a bluff.. ever) but he's a good hand reader postflop. Standard TAG stuff but one of the best, most consistent grinders in the room.

I've been card dead for the last hour or so. Ran an unsuccessful 2-barrel 10 mins ago and got called down so my image is tight but a bit tarnished but overall he thinks I'm a tight player. But he's very aware I'm capable of getting out of line with 3-bets and that I do so relatively often. He opens wide in LP like a standard TAG.

I get A ♥ J♥ in SB. V opens to $30 in CO, loose passive fish calls OTB, I 3-bet to $120, V and fish call. I estimate V's range as KQ+, AJ+, 66+ once he called. Fish.... probably something as weak as K9s and QJs is there.

Flop: Q♥ 5♣ 2♠ Pot $370 The flop is pretty dry so I decide to c-bet. I bet $200, only V calls.

Turn: 7♥ Pot $770 I pick up nut FD.

  1. What do you think of my decision to c-bet?
  2. What do you think of flop sizing? Would 1/3 pot be better for example?
  3. What do you do OTT?
