NL100 weird preflop spot with AK

CO is 40/25/7.7 over 90 hands, BU and BB are both whales.

Final Pot BB lost and shows a pair of Twos.
UTG lost and shows high card Ace.
CO wins and shows a pair of Aces.
CO wins $278.32
Rake is $3.00

Really wasn't sure if "4bet-squeezing" was better than just calling the 3bet, but I didn't want to give the whales a chance draw "cheaply".

I guess it all depends on how I estimate the CO to play. I just moved up so I had very little info, but he was playing one table and seemed loose preflop.

His small 5bet made me hate my life but it makes no sense to 4bet/fold AK for a third of my stack imo, plus one of the whales called it.
