Simple preflop question

Blinds: $0.02/$0.05 (6 Players) BN: $7.33
SB: $10.06
BB: $5.26 (Hero)
UTG: $7.13
MP: $4.50
CO: $6.13
Preflop ($0.07) Hero is BB with K 8
2 folds, CO raises to $0.15, BN calls $0.15, SB folds, Hero

This is a rather simple preflop question that I thought about today in game, I just wanna make sure I understand the dynamics right. In general, K8s is a pure call for me in the BB vs. CO raise. Starting from K9s, I am mixing calling and 3-betting.

How does the Button cold caller affect our range construction in the BB?

  1. My first intuition is that we have more incentive to 3-bet since there is more dead money in the pot and the generated fold equity through 3-betting will generate more value. So do borderline 3-betting hands that we would usually just call in our range (like K8s here) become profitable 3-bets?
  2. My second intuition is that we should expand our calling range towards lower suited/connected holdings. These don't rely on singe pairs but play well plost-flop allowing us to c/r quite some flops and make nutted hands.

Correct? Anything else to add?
