Splitting range into 2 cbet sizes

This came up in a recent video.
-Juan Copani recommended splitting ranges into a 1/3rd pot bet with wider range and then 1/2 pot bet with more polar range on 8s6s6h after 3betting the small blind versus the BTN.
-His range seems to be 98s+ T9s+ J9s+ Q9s+ K9s+ A8s+ and then KJo+ ATo+ QJo+ 22+
-How can we balance this?
-I am guessing that AT-AK, 22-77 will go into the 1/3rd sizing fairly often as they want protection and then 99+ and hands like T9s, JTs/QJs/J9s (with bd and front door flush potential) hands will go into the polar range.
-Doesn't this leave us susceptible to having a lot of weak hands in our 1/3rd pot bet range?
