PLO8 strategy

Some of things various plo8 "coaches" say sound very questionable to me, just as a result of my background in NLHE. Like the other day I was watching a vid maker talk about "sweetening (min-betting)" the pot on the river with nut-low when he had no shot at high. Intrinsically it seemed incorrect to me - like, just a recipe to get quartered - and this guy has written entire books on PLO8.
Difficult to know who to trust really.
