Live 2-5-10 Turn / River Spot

This is a hand that a friend of mine recently played that is kind of interesting.

2-5-10 Rock Straddle PLO.

$3,000 effective.

Hero is in early position with:     Ah Kd Jh 8c

Hero raises to $40 and get 3 callers from the HJ and 2 of the blinds. HJ is very good reg / pro, and the 2 blinds are tourists. All have Hero covered except for one shorter tourist stack with about $800. (Hero is also a very good reg / pro and the HJ knows this)

Flop ($170) (4 players)              Jc 4c 2s

Checks through.

Turn ($170) (4 players)              8s

Blinds check, Hero checks, HJ bets $100. Blinds fold. Hero pots to $470. HJ calls.

River ($1,110) (2 players)          6s

Hero checks, HJ bets $500.

Hero???

I will start by saying that I don't think the river is the interesting part of this hand. Yes, I am interested in the bluffcatching analysis, but I think the interesting question is: What is the correct play on the turn?

My initial thoughts, (and Heroes) were that we should go for a chk / raise on this turn. However, after thinking about this some more, I like the idea of a lead much better. I think we are just too deep to get in enough money with a chk / raise, and we are also OOP to a really good player who can just own us on every river.

I think if we lead the turn, we are often getting raised by the HJ and maybe the blinds. This makes this option much more attractive as we can 3bet shove and not have to play rivers OOP. If we get flatted, we can give up on rivers much easier as we don't have tons of money invested in the hand.

As played, I like folding the river against this particular villain. Our line has kept his range super wide, but I think he has more value than air.

What do you guys think? (What does the Poker Juice think?)
