Not a big fan of the river bluff. Feels like you are repping a hand you never had. Like coming to the river with 76 you'd pretty much had to have Ad76 and its fairly rare to have that. I think the Kd isn't a good card for this bluff, since you'd most likely fold most of your SD's now that there is a FD out there. If the river was a J I'd like the bluff a lot better, since there would now be a lot of straights, and not just the 76 straight (ofc in this case you'd have a non-nut straight and not need to bluff).

OTT when check-raised deep, it would kind of suck to have a monster wrap like J976, even if you had a fd with it a lot of your outs would be to non-nuts, which isn't too fun when deep. So yeah, i think you have the straight so rarely that Id be happy to call there in villains shoes.

Didn't schuller_alt beat it pretty good in his challenge? http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/38/small-stakes-pl-omaha/shuller-alt-challenge-1534979/

That said its ofc different for a high stakes player to crush smaller games than to assume that most regs will be winners. A few of my friends play z50. They say they are winners, and I guess they love the format.

You should definitely add a link to the menu bar, at least I didn't notice any links to the store. Kind of surprised you don't have XXL-sized shirts.

I would know a lot of good videos in Finnish, they just don't help you (I suppose). :(

They would help me :) Already got the link to Niska's videos, but always looking for more. Right now I'm trying to watch as much as I can from a coaching site as my subsciption is active but wouldn't mind to get some links if you have some recommendations.

I enjoyed PLO from scratch, or well I'm through 1/3rd of it so far. Much easier to read than Hwang's book.
You can google fort the other parts.

he has far more combos of K/J/Thi flushes and at 20PLO I don't see many people folding these hands

Do you really mean that at PLO100 people would fold smaller flushes in a BvsB situation? I assumed the games just get more aggressive, not that people would make big laydowns in spots where both players ranges are wide.

Hand 1: Villain is 76/21/2 over 440 hands with a 3bet of 11 and fold-to-cbet of 19.

I'd usually bet the flop with top-two + gutter, but here I elected to check. I'd really hate to be raised and I also think villain will stab with weaker. OTT I want to CR to get as much money in as possible, if villain has something like T9xx I don't think he will be going anywhere.

OTR I'm kind of torn, I really don't want to C/C since I don't think he will be bluffing here, but in my experience players with spazzy stats like those can bet some weird hands here, so I don't want to fold the nut-straight for less than half pot. Also I don't think he will have that many flushes in his range, as I have the NF-blocker so think his bet-calling range could have more of straight hands in it. Since I don't want to fold, and I don't think he will bluff much I jam myself. I'm hoping he could fold a straight here to avoid us splitting, as I guess many of his hands will have the same straight as I do. Dunno if this makes sense, and if this is too thin. It does feel weird to turn a hand that is often the best almost into a bluff though..

River: ($25.92) T (2 players)

Hand 2: Villain is a 22/16/2,7 reg with a RFI of 61% in the SB. His fold-to-3bet is only 6% but I think our hand is good enough to 3bet IP. He does seem like an OK reg.

OTF his fold-to-cbet in 3bet pots is only 33%, but I think its a good bet with the NFD (+gutshot).
OTT I figure I don't need to bet too large, I want to be able to bluff at this spot cheaply and we still get a nice pot for the river.
OTR I figure many players would lead here with a flopped set, as its tough for people to fold Qx hands or flushes. I often check behind flushes when the board pairs and villains are certain to have a piece of the board. Here however I figured that given the BvsB action our ranges are much wider. I also want to be aggressive in these spots and put a lot of pressure on my opponents - so if I'd only bet the nuts or bluffs on the river my range for betting would be way too heavily geared towards bluffs (not that I know if regs at these stakes pay attention enough). But I did think villain would have a tough time putting down a low flush, or maybe even Qx. Does it seem OK?

Another point is that if the river bricks and our villain is on an FD we will not be getting any more value from him, same if he has say two pairs and the river pairs the board (unless he wants to bluff and we need to make the difficult decision).

Arukidinme, if we just called and the flush hit, I'd just fold to a bet. I mean I have to assume villain has something to be leading into us, and if he also had the bare straight then I don't see why he'd bluff the river with a strong hand as we could well have a FD ourselves.

Nov. 10, 2014 | 8:01 p.m.

Ty. But is it really a good spot to bluff multiway? BTN only has 2/3 pot left and with so many players I guess we need to bet something like 2/3 pot to not have them call lightly IP. I kind of feel our range for betting here is only 9x+

If I donk, should I ever be folding? Wouldn't it be quite likely that someone would raise us with 9x especially if they have overcards like AQJ9. I'd give the 3bettor some credit for KKxx but yeah I guess KKxx is in the flatting range of my other opponents too, but wouldn't really be looking to make large folds here. I also don't think CR'ing would accomplish much, if villain has AAxx or weak 9's he gets to fold easily.

Got a bit confused in this 4-way 3bet pot. With so many cold-callers and a somewhat decent hand I figured its an easy call with me ending the action and having good relative position on the flop.

I kind of wonder am I getting a ton of value from weaker hands given I crush the board. Also if I flopped king's full here I'd take it slow hoping someone gets an underfull so I'm not thrilled about pumping in money to the pot as I really wouldn't want to fold (guess I can't fold either), but I also don't want to give cheap cards to say QQxx. Since my opponents aren't all that deep, would it be better to try to get the stacks in and chalk it up as a cooler if if loose, or should we try to milk some smaller value from weaker holdings as I think there are so few weaker hands that want to stack off here 4-way. Its a speed table, so not many reads on my opponents.

I kind of feel that if I donk-pot the turn it would look super strong, but with a smaller bet I'll get trips and maybe even straight draws to peel - which I think is fine as they are drawing dead or super thin.

I've probably had at about 10 coaches for NL, and most of them have been worth the money. There was only one who who was of no use (he didn't have any issue taking my money for the session though) while the rest were at least OK. If you are just lazy about improving your game I don't think coaching is a magic bullet though, but I've always taken time to mark down hands I had trouble with and asked for advice on specific situations and this has worked well for me.

I do think there is a declining value, like usually after 5 sessions I don't feel like I'm learning as much as I did during the first few sessions. When I played NL I did have one mid-stakes coach who helped me a ton, and I'd still get coaching from him if I was able to play the games I used too.

One of the most important things for me though is that I feel accountable for my progress if I have a weekly coaching session, i.e. I want to fix those leaks we discovered and not be making the same mistakes if I record a video of my game. So it helps me to find spots which I should improve in my game, and not just what to do in specific hands. Also I think it makes me a better hand reader when a clearly better player explains what he things a reg things my hand range would be and what the regs range would be and where I missed a spot to bluff.

"I think the micros is where RIO lacks a bit, but the site isn't really geared towards that kind of subscriber."

I have to disagree, been watching Phil's essential Omaha vids and he puts a lot of thought into what info is most important for micro/small stakes players. Learned a lot from them, and its so worth the $10 subscription fee. Obv its a bit of a problem that he only makes one a month, but I've only subscribed for two months and still have a few vids to watch.

You are certainly correct that the videos for higher stakes don't translate too well to the micros. As an example I found Sam's HH review videos very interesting, but will be saving them for later as some elaborate bluff 300bb's deep just doesn't translate to the games I play since no way would my opponent be able to hand read the way the they do at those games.

I would hope that they would pay more attention in selecting which videos are included in the essential plan, like there was some theory video about blind play which I'd love to watch, and I think I could learn from - but instead they have some deep PLO200 videos which are in no way relevant to my game (although interesting). Since I don't know any of the other video producers that do essential videos its also hard to know in advance what to watch, so some recommendation threads would be useful.

About DC, I guess black friday affected all the coaching sites. Like it looked like an ever growing market before that, but I heard from another coaching site that the US subscriber amounts went down a ton after that. Guess the potential for future revenue dropped a lot too. So no wonder if they can't pay top money for the highest stakes players to make videos. There was also some interesting discussion on 2+2 on how the poker community has changed, like earlier people were a lot more willing to share knowledge and help others improve since there were enough fish for everyone. Now with more money coming from playing weaker regs people aren't as interested in sharing that info. Dunno if its relevant, but thought it was interesting.

I'm also trying to switch, just surprised how few games are running on the smaller sites. Trying to 6-table PLO10 in the euro morning is a bit difficult when I noticed there was only one game running on Ipoker and one on FTP - so I need to play on multiple sites and still have difficulties getting enough tables at these stakes. I'm used to playing multiple stakes though, but I wonder how that will be if I get back up to $2 BB games. Would rather not move all my playing to Stars.

If you still want recommendations I really enjoyed Phil's PLO Zoom50 video. He talked a lot about exploiting the different player tendencies http://www.runitonce.com/pro-training/videos/phil76/

Let me know which ones you find are the best ones. I started by looking at the ones by Galfond which are for the cheaper subscription. In the narrative he always says that he assumes low (micro) stakes players will be watching those so he'll elaborate more on pre-flop and stuff that he things we will find useful. Also watched some hand history videos by Sam. They are very interesting, but he plays deep PLO200 a lot, and there you can assume you are against thinking players - which is not the case in the games I play.

From what I've seemed at my very limited time in the micros is that they key seems to be to play a better range of hands than your opponents, take them for the max value when you make a hand or a strong draw, and they always have the flush. Been playing Zoom so min-raising the BTN if its folded to you is quite profitable as many players have the auto-fold on, but in other games I'd expect people to call a lot more.

So why don't you just install HEM2 and check if that would work? I hate playing without a HUD myself, and it sounds like its seriously affecting your play. That said, I site I played on had a software update which broke all HUD's - so my opponents were also playing naked. It was actually really fun and profitable, guess a lot of regs decided not to play so the fish/reg ratio was much higher and I could be more aggro since they probably remembered I wasn't a big 3bettor and without a HUD they can't see that I was doing it way more than usual.

Sept. 30, 2014 | 12:39 p.m.

On the PT4 website they say that they use the term "float" for this. Sounds very confusing to me, since I've always understood that as calling a bet with the intention to steal the pot. Its explained in more detail in this thread, and I guess the default pop-up already has those stats. I highlighted them for your convenience :)

So if I understood their comments correctly, that should answear questions 1 & 2. Unfortunately I have very few hands on my PT4 on my Mac, so couldn't verify that those stats seem legit. Maybe you can check if they seem correct on your end if you can compare them with HEM2 stats?

PT Thread:

In poker terminology a float is a call with the intent to bet later to take the pot down if the opponent shows weakness. We can't know a player's intentions when he makes a call but we can know when he makes a bet after his opponent shows weakness - so in PokerTracker terminology we call that bet into weakness the Float Bet.

It would be so nice to get a better overview what's included in the cheaper plan. Browsing videos by the date they were published isn't all that useful IMO. All the links with the gametypes just seem to lead me to the forums. Maybe I'm a bit of a noob since I just signed up, but the navigation in this site really seems confusing.

If the plans are divided according to the coaches levels, then it would be great to see into which category they fit in the overview page of the coaches. I think when looking at the coaches page you should see what videos they have made (with links obv). I mean I'm not really all that interested to see what they have liked, would much rather see what videos they have made and it would also be cool if you would see what video they recommend instead of seeing what posts they like. (Well not really sure what the "like" option does as it doesn't seem to do anything when I press it on Galfonds page).
