I'd love to see more HU content, especially videos using the "heuristics" approach.

Too good of a video to end up with zero comments.

Welcome back, Steve. Very nice and informative video.

I haven't played a hand of poker in almost five years, but the pandemic got me in to it again, and am enjoying it and having fun, so it was quite surreal to see your situation mirrors mine. So much has changed, but it still remains a very interesting game to play.

I have one question regarding the AQ situation. The solver suggests checking the river, which surprised me for pretty much the same reasons that it surprised you. There are very few slowplayed turned flushes at low stakes, and often times villains call the river bet with worse, most likely talking themselves in to not believing a bet/check/bet line.

My question is how would you approach modifying your game in these spots vs a player pool that, at least in your view, plays significantly different from the solver? Would the correct approach be to continue vbetting (exploit) or modify the strategy and check (gto) vs a small stakes player pool? A bit of a mangled question, most likely exposing my own lack of knowledge regarding solvers and game theory. Like I stated previously, I've just woken up after 5 years of not playing, and the last time I played these types of analyses were reserved for Sauces and other Bosses.

Thank you.

Have to say this was an excellent video. It seemed like there was a disproportionate amount of interesting spots that kept coming up. Looking forward to seeing the whole footage.

Can we get some Phil Galfond at MSNL 6max NLHE goodness?

It seems like the last 107 of his vids were PLO.

Thanks Pedro.

One more question, if I may. I'll have to buy a new phone soon, and was wondering whether the RIO app would be available for iPhone6 or iPhone6 Plus (virtually a tablet)?

App has been crashing on my Nexus 7 the last couple of days. More often than not it is impossible to watch a video. Also, it seems that the app is no longer available in the Google Play Store?

Any clarifications/good news?

I was thinking that on that board and those positions, the villain should have a strategy in which he divides almost 100% of his range in to hands that either call both turn and river, or fold to a turn c/r. Maybe an argument can me made for some drawing hands that call the river only when they hit, but I think most of the villains range vs teunuss' strategy should be played as described above.

Great video, really enjoyed it.

One question though. I was wondering do you ever play live poker? If yes, do you ever get annoyed at your opponents, proceed to bite them, and then fall on the floor clutching your face feigning injury and claim innocence when the security asks you to leave?

Well played, RiO. Android version is a must, though.

Oh, sorry, he had AQ in the other hand, guess I forgot to write it down. It has been edited now.

May 1, 2014 | 5:37 p.m.

HJ: 254.36
CO: 200
BN: 124.36
SB: 229.61 (Hero)
BB: 158
UTG: 139.10
Villain is a good reg. His 3b form BTN vs CO is 5%.

I'm not going to comment on the hand posted here, but the villain and I played a hand on another table in which I opened form the BTN, he 3b and called my 4b from the BB. On the flop J63 rainbow he checked, and I bet 21 in to 71. Turn was a T, bringing in a fd, and we both check. River was an 8 and he overbet shoved 151 in to 113, and I snap called him with KK. He showed AQ.

We chatted for a bit:
V:"was that a hope snap?"
H:"I guess :/"
H: I tend to snap call a lot"
V: "Good."
V: " :) "

Preflop (3) (6 Players)
Hero was dealt K K
UTG folds, HJ raises to 6, CO raises to 18, BN folds, Hero calls 17, BB folds, HJ calls 12
Flop (56) J T 2 (3 Players)
Hero checks, HJ checks, CO checks
Turn (56) J T 2 T (3 Players)
Hero bets 28, HJ folds, CO raises to 75.64, Hero calls 47.64
River (207.28) J T 2 T 8 (2 Players)
Hero checks, CO bets 106.36, and is all in, Hero folds
Final Pot
CO wins 205.13

What's your reasoning for calling after the flop action?

I can safely tell you that I've been a very happy person ever since I've learned that keeping myself happy and keeping my ego happy are two completely different and opposite things. :)

"On the turn i think a good way to look at it is that villain gains incentive to CR based on 2 factors - how often we reopen the betting, and how much we reopen the betting for.  Of those 2 i think that the fqcy at which we reopen is more critical, since it opens up an extra street into the game for villain to utilize.

So i would guess that of these 2 strategies, #2 is going to leave us more exploitable:

#1: We make a larger size bet with KK+, and some bluffs

#2: We make a smaller size bet with TT+, and some bluffs."

Hi Nick. Very happy to have you as a coach at RiO,and I'm very glad to see you participate in the forums. Better hurry up with a new vid, though.

A couple of questions regarding what you wrote here.

I think I agree with the first paragraph, but I'm not sure why you come to the conclusion that  strategy #2 leaves us more exploitable? Is it correct to extrapolate that you therefore prefer strat #2 to strat #1?

Also, in strat #1 would your plan be to bet/call KK+?

If the money earned was equal, I'd much rather be an SSNL crusher.

The reason for this is that I believe that it is more likely that I'd have a positive outlook on poker and my future earnings from it if I were crushing a limit, that if I were just breaking even at a higher stake, but earning money via rakeback. I feel the game would be less fun, and the realization that I'm not actually winning at the game would be a bit depressing.

I would just like to add that the name of the topic is really excellent. Carry on.

April 21, 2014 | 4:04 p.m.

I thought this was an excellent video, and I really like your delivery of poker content interspersed with tangents and short anecdotes.

I'd love to see a live play vid, and a break down of ranges in to tree decisions for a certain spot.

Keep up the good work.

The first vid was ridicously good. Very happy with this adittion to the roster.
