As far as most MTT regs win most of their profits pre-rakeback, I don't think so.

Pretty cool video, hombre !

Aug. 13, 2015 | 7:50 p.m.

Yep, pretty sure it should be. Esp with the K of diamonds because its adds a little bit of equity vs. villain's TT-JJ combos without blocking AdQd and AdJd.

@Samu : Oh my bad. Now it's public !

It might sound a little bit cheezy, but it worked well for me :

In the 1st spot, when you did the CREV simulation, you compared bet/folding vs. bet/calling right ? So when you said that calling the turn shove results in losing $43, this is still better than losing $124 if we bet/fold right ?

Great video James !

Is this standard for your to open-fold 54s OTCO ?

I do struggle to maintain healthy sleeping patterns. I have insomniac tendencies for years.

But it's not because of poker.

It's rather because i find plenty of cool things to do on my computer instead of sleeping.
Smoking as much weed as i do also might not help i guess.

Thanks for your replies.

I like to know what you feel about it. f*ck maths!

Jan. 5, 2014 | 3:50 a.m.

Pokerstove doesn't want to work on my computer too, but according to PPT, KJo is a slight dog unless it's vs. a range of 37% or more; and KQo is a slight dog too unless it's against a range of 30% or more.
But those hands have nice blockers and the ability to make decent bluff catchers when we hit card that our opponent might try to barrel etc.

I guess most grinders usually try to do something about this spot, so it should'nt be too bad on average ? I honestly have no idea.

Any thoughts Peter ?

I'm pretty sure Parker's 3betting range is  not polarized there, but linear.

Jan. 4, 2014 | 3:38 p.m.

How can you be so certain that it plays better as a check ? Did you ran some CREV ?

I would argue that 4x hands need some protection and have some value now, and checking them makes our range looking pretty showdown-value heavy and hallows the villain to play turn and river pretty nicely versus us imo.

Also why would we need to cbet those flops so polarized ? You can't just throw that argument in the air without explaining us why you think we should do so.

Are you reptilian ? Are you a pirate ?

Dec. 29, 2013 | 12:23 a.m.

Yo Gégé, I never said I would fold! A bientôt!

Dec. 28, 2013 | 11:12 p.m.

As you said, not so obvious; we have few informations to work with and we gotta guess a bit! It's certainly a losing play versus some villains! We just hope to do better than folding on average!

Dec. 28, 2013 | 5:50 p.m.

Yo Nick,

I just found out something after posting, and updated my post while you were writing :

(the 8200 chips we're losing by 3bet/folding are inclued in these calcs! it really compares the EV of 3bet/folding vs. 5bet shoving, awesome!)

This software is really nice!

I agree with all you just said.

Note : in chipsEV mode, with my set-up we got a push with fives, better by 14k chips than the EV of 3bet folding ! The difference in ICM-mode is just huge there!

Dec. 28, 2013 | 5:24 p.m.

I just sub-ed ICMizer for 1 year! =] Great stuff!!

I just tried the same set-up but versus a wider and more polarized 4betting range :  99+ and AQo+ for value, and A9s-A2s,ATo-A4o, K9s and KTo as blocker hands to 4bet/fold. (assuming villain just flats the in-between hands)
Then it shows that 55 just starts to become theoretically +$EV to shove by +0,02%, even with ICM!

(the 8200 chips we're losing by 3bet/folding are inclued in these calcs! it really compares the EV of 3bet/folding vs. 5bet shoving, awesome!)

I yet love ICMizer!

That being said, I agree that just flatting pre is prolly best !

Dec. 28, 2013 | 2:22 p.m.

Wouldn't you think that the villain would bluff stuffs like T7, T8, 87, K high, even some weak A highs or stuffs similar to QThh or JTcc ?

I do!

Dec. 28, 2013 | 12:51 p.m.

Very interesting, thanks!

I just ran off my free calcs on ICMizer :(

I was wondering, if 5bet shoving those fives equals a loss of -1.38% because of ICM implications, what's the loss of 3bet/folding 8200 chips, assuming the same ICM situation ?

Dec. 27, 2013 | 11:16 p.m.

Thomas,

It's not because I tried to say something positive that I don't get your points.

Dec. 27, 2013 | 1:33 p.m.

I often play some spots where I could bet a range that contains like 100% of bluffs and make money because my oppenents on average are folding enough of the time that I can get away with it.

So I really don't mind if Peter's strategy isn't GTO.

I would trust his 'feelings', and abilities to adjust against stations.

This is by far the most intense discussion I ever seen on RIO! Pretty entertaining btw.

Dec. 27, 2013 | 12:35 p.m.

As I said 2 months ago : "Being able to see your videos for just $10/month is way too cheap. It should be part of the elite plan imo."

Congratz Nick !! Merry Christmas!!

Dec. 25, 2013 | 12:01 a.m.

5:00 : We need less than 36% of 4b/folds from the vilain for our 5bet jam to be better than 3bet/folding, because 3bet folding is -8k every time! So if we are considering 5bet or folding, we must assume than everything better than -8k is best!

I suggest that Phil and Sauce get their huds to work before recording a HU zoom session!
