I pretty strongly suspect there might be something fundamentally wrong here when over nearly 200k hands the BTN barely outperforms CO.

Post | OttoPilot posted in NLHE: Fix my button play!

So guys, here are my winrates by position over the last 50k hands. I realize SB and particularly BB could be better, but those are often quite complicated to fix and caused by a variety of factors. My primary concern here is the BTN since this, I believe, should be the bread and butter of our poker game. I think my CO winrate is fine, but if I'm not mistaken my BTN winrate should really be considerably higher, something like 35bb/100 or better. I picked the last 50k hands for this sample, but I believe this trend has been apparent in my game for longer.

I realize this data is far from sufficient to solve the issue, so please let me know what information you would like to see to bust this leak!

I always feel pretty lost in spots like these. Folding seems way too weak with two over plus a GS, but I never know how to play turns. Apart from an offsuit K I'm in a tough spot even if I improve and unsure of whether I can vb when checked to or call when he doubles.

Do you attack his weakness here by betting turn? Bet river as well?

Sept. 4, 2015 | 4:45 a.m.

Really good point that with QQ we block his outs if he's holding JT and therefore a good x/c hand. Thanks, I'll have to be more aware of subtleties like these.

Sept. 3, 2015 | 1:59 p.m.

You mean checking on the river, or do you think I should be checking the flop already because villain has a range advantage here?

Sept. 3, 2015 | 12:26 p.m.

Would it not be equally shitty if we raise the flop and get 3-bet? If we raise flop he can 3-bet his draws more liberally as he'll have more equity with two streets remaining.
