900 players left, 459 paid. Avrg stack about 23k... blinds 400/800 ante 180.

Utg (35000) seems like a good reg.
Utg+2 (26000) new to the table
Utg+3 - hero (16000)

Action: utg raises to 1600, utg+2 flats. We have AJ... just fold? Push? I ripped it in, utg folds utg+2 calls with JJ.

Is this a terrible or ok play?

Thx for comments

Were in the hot 11, 85 players left i have 100k blinds are 5k/10k... I'm in the big blind with AQ, SB sits out... UTG+1 shoves with a stack of 50k , UTG+2 reshoves with about 110K (he had me covered)... Reshover was playing pretty tight so far...

I was a little tilted from the last hand, where i opened KJ UTG and the same guy as in the spot above shoved on me...

Should we wait for a better spot or get it in here with 10 bbs?

Thanks for thoughts

Post | lejo1 posted in Chatter: Books

Hey there

I am wondering which book would be the best for improving my online game. I've recently bought Harrington on holdem, Kill everyone, Poker Power holdem Strategies, and the theory of poker...

Can anyone tell me if those books are still up to date, and which books maybe would be better or also worth to buy??

thx in advance

Post | lejo1 posted in Chatter: HM, SnG Wizard etc

Hey there

I've been playing for a couple of years online, but it was never really worth it. I think this is mostly due to the fact that i dont take the game serious enough. I indeed do want to make some money by playing, but until this point it didn't work out so well for me, at least not in the net.

How important is it to have software like HoldemManager, SnG Wizard etc.?? I've always thought I could make it without any programme. But now i am considering buying it. Can you recommend it for me?

I think i'm not anymore a bloody amateur, but far away from being a winning player. What else can I do to improve my game?

Cheers

Post | lejo1 posted in Other: Right moove?

A week ago i played a live poker tournament for 150.-... There were 27 players and i made it to the heads up. I was chipleader with about 160K against somewhat like 90K at blinds 3k/6k. first place money: 1550.-, second place 950.-....

First hand delt: TT. Button raises to 12K. I got no special read on my opponent, but i think he's playing pretty tight, so i put him on Ax or any broadway-card-combinations. I went ahead and 3bettet him to 27K, he pushed, and i snapcalled. He tabled AQ and won the flip with an Ace on the turn.

I think its no question if we want to get our money in there.

Just was wondering what you think about to just call (for i put him on a good hand), and then jam (or check-raise shove) any flop without any ace or broadway cards?? If the flop would have come something like xxA, xxK, xxQ, xxJ, maybe check/call, and then check/fold the turn??

Thank you for every thought

Comment | lejo1 commented on blowing off my rolls

Thank you for the comment!

I indeed do recognize when I start to lose it and start blowing off my roll in the HTHU's... But I cannot stop it. I even tell myself, don't do it its gonna end bad, but the next second a 30$ HTHU is opened and the second after i already get it in and lose. Have you never experienced blowing off your roll in that way? I always feel terrible after that. Because when i'm playing a tourney session i actually only need about 30$ for it, but because of blowing off the rest of my roll everytime the next session always starts with loading up money instead of starting a new session with the remaining roll... sometimes i then feel like i'm addicted to blowing off my rolls, just gambling and not even maybe playing my A-game....

To the issue of study and review. I always think trough my hands played and try to figure out what i did well and what not. But I just do it in my head, I have no software or something...

Of course I try to see my mistakes as a enrichment and it often also works. But sometimes the mistakes ar so mentally disabled that I not even can tell myself what the hell was going on.

An example: Some months ago I played the big4.40 and was doing exellent during the whole tournament. I was always in the top ten. After 6 or 7 hours of play, somewhen in the morning I was third in chips and there were 27 players remaining. Then this hand occured:

I'm chipleader at the table. I raised 2x with 44 UTG. UTG1 (second in chips at the table) 3bets to something like 6x, everybody folds to me. I think, actually i should fold, but maybe i can flop a set, so i call. Flop comes JJ6. I think, damn, I missed and have to give up, so i check. Then UTG1 bets into me and suddendly I think: oh, i could rep a J, and check raise him - he calls. turn comes 2 or something, i fire half the pot, he calls again. River comes 5 or something and i push allin :-O - Snapcall by KK. My Stack is crippled and a few hand later I get it in good with AK against AT - River T - and i'm out in 27th place. I sit infront of my computer, and the world is breaking over my head. At least i won 30$ or so, but who cares. I immedeatly open the HT's and within the next hour my roll is gone.

Within the next week I just felt sooooo terrible about that hand, that I even thought i'm falling in some kind of depression.

you see, sometimes really reaally dumb dumb....

What shall I do to get my mind right to this game so that I can win constantly. That's actually also answer to your first question: my goal is to make constantly a bit of money for a better living as a student.

I think my post is quite confusing written, but thank you for any further tipps :).

CHeeeers!

thank you for your comment!

I think it is possible to set up your bankroll with 25$ because i did so a few times... The problem is just that everytime i make it i somewhen completly lose it and try to get the money i lost during the session back trough HTHUs. even do i know its going to end bad i do it again and again and bust my roll with the Hypers...

I already did read a lot about BRM but the problem is that i dont really can put my mind to it. i tell myself too often that it is not that important and that i can make it also without a serious BRM.

Can you recommend any good books or articles about it?

Post | lejo1 posted in Chatter: blowing off my rolls

Hello everybody

I'm new at runitonce and this is my first post.

What i'd like to talk about is the following:

I'm playing poker for 5 years now. Don't really know a lot about the mathematics but I think in general I actually play pretty well. I make a lot of good decisions and am also able to put a lot of pressure on my opponents (at least that's what i'm thinking).

I always start to build up my roll with 25 dollars and come sometimes up to 100-300 dollars, a few times even 1000 and more (trough sit & goes and tournaments).

Now here comes my problem. I often start a session really motivated and also play really good to a certain point. If i make a huge mistake like bluffing off my stack or calling off with a hand i thought was the winner, my mind gets crazy. I start to tell myself that im the dumbest idiot, that no normal person would have made mooves like that and so on.iIt gets even worse. I start to play Hyper-Turbo HU in way to high limits and within the next hour i usually bust my entire roll.

This has happend to me several times and sometimes i just think about quitting to play.

Does anybody have experiences in that way or felt the same or did the same?

Thank you for every comment!
