Hey RIO,

I've been grinding NL10 over the past two weeks in my spare time and I've played around 23k hands. I took a look at my graph at the end of today's session and saw that my 'C All-In Adj" line is over double what my C won is. I've googled around and I'm a little confused. Is a gap this big an indicator of simply running bad, or does it show that something is wrong with my game?

Don't get my wrong, I'm still running at 4bb/100 which is pretty good for the moment, though given I've only recently started studying I can't imagine I'll have retained this winrate over 100k hands. I'm just curious as to whether or not this line being so much more than my green line simply means I'm getting it good and that my short-term luck is simply not on my side, or if it could be a sign I'm playing badly.

Thanks.

Yep. This is what I thought as soon as the hand was over. Thank you, I know for next time!

Post | shreddie98 posted in NLHE: Flopped set on wet board

Just a single hand from a NL10 6max game I played before. I'm a little stuck on whether or not I took the right approach with waiting until the turn to build the pot instead of doing so on the flop.

SB: 104.4 BB (VPIP: 20.79, PFR: 15.19, 3Bet Preflop: 5.74, Hands: 1,166)
BB: 82.8 BB (VPIP: 62.50, PFR: 6.25, 3Bet Preflop: 0.00, Hands: 16)
UTG: 141.7 BB (VPIP: 23.33, PFR: 10.48, 3Bet Preflop: 1.37, Hands: 217)
Hero (CO): 102.2 BB
BTN: 63 BB (VPIP: 58.90, PFR: 0.00, 3Bet Preflop: 0.00, Hands: 73)

SB posts SB 0.5 BB, BB posts BB 1 BB

Pre Flop: (pot: 1.5 BB) Hero has 3c 3h
fold, Hero raises to 3 BB, BTN calls 3 BB, SB calls 2.5 BB, BB calls 2 BB

Two pretty big fish, one in the BB whom I target with this raise.

Flop : (12 BB, 4 players) Tc 3s Jd
SB checks, BB bets 6 BB, Hero calls 6 BB, BTN calls 6 BB, SB calls 6 BB

I'm thinking I should have potentially raised the bet here instead of flatting? My thought process at the time was regarding the lack of potential flushes on the turn, though I didn't really consider the possibility of straight and gutshots surrounding the T&J.

Turn : (36 BB, 4 players) 7s
SB checks, BB bets 18 BB, Hero raises to 45 BB, BTN raises to 54 BB, fold, fold, Hero calls 9 BB

With the addition of a 7 to the board and a second spade, I figured a raise here was the right play to deny a decent price on any draws and for value against hands such as JT and AJ, some of which will probably call, especially given then types of players in the hand.

River : (162 BB, 2 players) 7h

Hero shows 3c 3h (Full House, Threes full of Sevens)
(Pre 47%, Flop 73%, Turn 23%)

BTN shows 9s 8s (Straight, Jack High)
(Pre 53%, Flop 27%, Turn 77%)

Hero wins 148.5 BB

So, overall, I feel like my raise should have been done on the flop to deny value for anyone chasing their draws with hands such as 89ss. Any insight?

Thank you, again.

I’ll take a look at this feature now:)

I see. I’ll continue playing and post more accurate stats once I reach 25k hands.

I’ve been enjoying TGM so far, I can tell my game is improving already, just wanted some clarification & im English!:)

Thank you for your response!

Thank you, Tyler.

If I understand correctly, you're suggesting calling pre and simply playing hit or miss/playing draws?

What if the flop came down, for example, as 7h 2c 8s? Are we calling a C-Bet knowing Villain's range is typically KK+ in this situation?

Sorry if these questions seem really basic.

Sorry about this being a normal post, I cannot use the Hand History option as no matter what I copy from PT4, RIO says the hand is invalid...

Anyway, I played this hand today and I am a little unsure on how I should have approached it.

Pre Flop: (pot: 1.5 BB) Hero has Qh Qd
UTG raises to 3 BB, fold, fold, fold, fold, Hero raises to 10 BB, UTG raises to 22 BB, Hero calls 12 BB

I'm a little doubtful that a call here is the right play, regardless of us having 3rd top pair preflop. I've played 294 hands with Villain and he has never once 4bet. With his 3bet % being so low too, I think alarm bells should have been ringing and my instant thought should have been KK+.

Flop : (44.5 BB, 2 players) 7d 4h Ad
Hero checks, UTG checks

Unsure if there's anything else to be done here.

Turn : (44.5 BB, 2 players) Th
Hero bets 25.2 BB, UTG calls 25.2 BB

This is the part I'm most confused about. With Villain failing to check on the flop I assume he's missed it. Though, in hindsight, he could have been hoping for exactly what happens with me leading into him.

River : (94.9 BB, 2 players) Kh
Hero checks, UTG bets 47.4 BB, fold

Simple fold here? With the preflop raise and the call on the turn I assume this should be an insta fold? Just looking for clarification.

Thanks.

Post | shreddie98 posted in NLHE: The Grinder's Manual & NL10

Hello RIO!

I've been reading and taking notes from The Grinder's Manual (TGM) whilst playing NL10 on Bet365 poker and have a few questions. I've only played around 9k hands (lost 8 buyins in the last 1.5k hands, currently running at 1.2bb/100) but I'm a little confused.

  1. Is TGM a good starting point for the Micros? Or would I be better served with a video series or maybe some of Blackrain79's content instead? I have basic understanding of poker and have won a couple of online tournaments since 2014, but I've never really started to dedicate time to learning and improving until now. I'm not too sure what my long term goals are, I just know I would like to be a profitable player at 25nl by the end of the year, if possible.

  2. Alongside TGM, I would also like to begin watching some videos as I feel I learn better with a mixture of material. I assume this has been asked many times, but could someone point me in the right direction to some RIO videos which I could benefit from whilst playing in the micros?

  3. I understand that 9k hands is a super small sample size, but I would love it if someone could take a look at my stats and graph so far and let me know if they can see any huge leaks already.

Thank you for your time.
