What_Is_Fold ???

KTo I might fold sometimes but in this spot I wanted to play a pot with the fish in position.Didn't c-bet flop as I think I'm only getting worse hands to fold and I think seeing an A, K, Q, or J turn card is good for me, so I don't mind seeing a free turn. I don't want to be c-betting 100%, and I think this is a decent spot to be checking back.

Turn I think is an easy value bet.

Maybe I should check back this river? I'm splitting with any KX, which he is never folding, and most of his QX are boats now. After I get check-raised, I think it's very likely he has a boat, as AX would call (he's pretty bad) or fold, KX is most likely just calling, QX that isn't a boat is just calling. I am getting ~3.5:1 on a call though, so I think I might be getting good enough odds on a call (need to be right less than 25% of the time.)

Any feedback is much appreciated.

Just played her in a 5 euro 6max SNG, proof in HH below:

I was surprised to see her playing such low stakes.

I like the check/call as I think if he 3bets your flop check/raise you're forced to fold a hand that often has a lot of equity, and that you would otherwise be able to make profitable decisions with on many turns and rivers (i.e. you won't be put into too many tough spots). so I like the check/call and would save the check/raising for the type of range you described. That's just my two cents.

Not too sure about the river though, interested to hear other people's thoughts.

"2/3 of flopped sets have a spade"

oops meant turned sets. 0% of flopped sets have a spade haha

oops my bad, moved it to MTT low stakes

fwiw I called and villain had Td8d for two pair. I don't think he was really turning it into a bluff either, I think he just thought "I have two pair, I should bet." I honestly don't think villain has that many flushes in their range. Before river comes I think a lot of their range is a flopped flush, set, or two pair. The only two pair hands that make a flush on river are AsKx/AsTx/As8x, and there are way more combos of two pair that don't have a spade. However, admittedly 2/3 of flopped sets have a spade.

I see now that there really is no value in raising but I think I still like my call. Is my reasoning ok or am I just being results oriented and stubborn?

fair enough. it was a 3 euro MTT though on iPoker, so sometimes people play pretty weird.

should I be going for thin value here or just call? I think a lot of villain's range is KxXs, TxXs, AQ, AJ, two pair, or a set. I'd like some feedback before I post results. Thanks in advance.

Well, I'm no baller by any stretch of the imagination. I'm willing to put down somewhere between $50 and $100

Jan. 27, 2014 | 4:25 a.m.

I'm willing to bet GT is female if I'm given 3:1 odds. Also I'm willing to escrow the money. Any takers?

Hand History | whats_fold posted in NLHE: How could I have gotten value?
SB: Whats_Fold: $1680
BB: Jogi_1963: $2320
Preflop ($60.00) (2 Players)
Whats_Fold was dealt K 9
Whats_Fold raises to $60, Jogi_1963 calls $40
HH is incorrect. Blinds were 20/40. I raised to 80 on the button, not 60, then he called the 40 more.
Flop ($160.00) 8 5 4 (2 Players)
Jogi_1963 bets $40, Whats_Fold calls $40
Turn ($240.00) K (2 Players)
Jogi_1963 bets $40, Whats_Fold raises to $160, Jogi_1963 folds
He kept doing this thing where he would min bet every street with marginal hands to get to showdown and I felt like I should be trying to get value with top pair and second nut flush draw, so I raised, as I didn't want to get to the river with a small pot.
Final Pot
Whats_Fold wins $440

definetly a good play, you just got unlucky. if you win this hand (which you will very often) you will go on to win the SNG a good amount of the time, plus a lot of the time he will probably just have air and have to fold. good shove

Jan. 13, 2014 | 5:12 a.m.

ok, thanks very much for the advice. also, how can i customize the stats so that it only the opponent's stats for each specific position at the table? i haven't learned how to do that yet

Jan. 9, 2014 | 8:34 p.m.

I'm relatively new to using a HUD (I've been using PT4 for a few weeks) and I've only just started using the Aggression Factor stat. I use pre-flop AF and total AF in my HUD. I understand that it is calculated by (total bets + raises)/calls. But there is a player at one of my tables who has a pre-flop AF of 0 (AKA 0 bets/raises and 1 or more calls) and a total AF of infinity (AKA 1 or more bets/raises and 0 calls). How is this possible? Don't these two stats contradict eachother?

this is awesome and very motivating! congratz on all your success!

Jan. 7, 2014 | 6:23 a.m.

are those euro sites really a lot better than party? I've been playing on Party despite the crappy software just because I assumed it's one of the softest sites but if those euro sites are softer, I will switch to one of them.

Jan. 7, 2014 | 6:13 a.m.

yes, a 6-max SNG. Thanks for the feedback. I tank folded and felt kind of unsure of the play afterwards.

I think it's a call personally. Definetly close enough that you shouldn't lose any sleep over it if he had you crushed or something.
