Hey guys. I'm south korean and 25 years old.
Recently I've been hit with pretty painful downswing, and I've even come to the point where I don't want to play poker. But I have to play poker in the end and get over this sloth. I thought writing a blog to might help break this situation.
I have enjoyed playing strategy games (such as hearthstone chess league of legends etc ) since I was younger, and I first encountered poker at the age of 18.
Ever since I turned 20, I've enjoyed poker as a hobby and mostly played SNG on stars.
Then I joined the military in 2019 (99% of older than 20years old men must go to the military in south Korea ) and after depositing $200 for gg poker in the military, whenever I had free time, I studied by watching several videos and started grinding from R&C cash nl2.
In 2021, I was discharged from the military and played 100k hands for each limit from nl2 to nl25 and won with a pretty good win rate. (I have a win rate of 5~7bb in NL2~NL5)
In 2022, I entered college and while I was in college, I couldn't concentrate on my schoolwork, and I kept playing poker, drinking, and hanging out. At this time, I was playing gg50~100nl, and I spent a lot of money on Poker Bankroll.
In 2023, I continued to play GG 100~200NL R&C. I thought I needed to make a big decision for life at some point after living such a indecisive life, and I didn't like my major and I liked the poker better. So I decided to drop out of college in June 2023 and become a full time poker player.
so yeah . From June 2023, I left the house and started living on my own, and from then on, the only thing disturbing my poker was laziness, except for downswing.
I played Stars and very profitable KR appgame at the same time as I started hating GG network in 2023.
Here is the result of my entire 2023

So total profit 2023 on online poker would be : $16,576.72 + $ 31,151.77 = $ 47,728.49
and also made additional $4k on live poker.
After 2023, what I felt was that even though I made around $50k, I didn't have that much bankroll left. In kr appgame, it's much easier compared to the effort I put into making money on stars, so I ended up with a very bad spending habit. I ate expensive food so casually, and rent fee was about $500 every month, but I didn't feel any pain about it. Also, I had much less to study than when I played stars, so I was also negligent in studying poker. I couldn't play this kr appgame anymore for some reason, and the reality came to me quickly.
And you know. I'm quite fucked rn.
Here is the entire of 2024.
yet I played only stars and very small volume of KR live poker games in 2024.
I played a little more 100z at the beginning of the year, then immediately started playing 200z. I had quite a hard time getting used to the pool in January, got a little bit better in February, and then in mid-March I completely rekt.
200z nightmare (March 8 ~ March 14 )
after this I movedown to 100z again. I think I've been on primedope a lot in this week.
but still it was so much painful.
Okay now I will set my goal.
[Small goal]
1. back to the 200z.
recover some BR on 100z and give a try to get back 200z.
2. back to the tables.
After nightmare I'm constantly having downswing, so it's painful to play poker, but I have to go back after a little break
3. post results on blog per 1month.
The biggest reason I decided to write a blog. To keep making myself play poker, whether the results are good or bad
Idk 1month is proper posting cycle. lmk
4. play at least 5days per week in april.
If i running good, I can play 6days a week. In April, even if i running bad, I should try to play at least 5 days a week.
[Goal of the year].
1. develop skills and BR for 500z
This is one of the biggest goals I set when I decided to play poker full time. Achieving this is my most important goal. I really want to achieve this before the end of the year
2.Creating a habit of exercising consistently.

Do you want to make a community where you have to be wary of writing welcome to RIO comments? That's so ridiculous and breathtaking. So you want to say that every time everyone competing in the leaderboard should writes down super long or detailed comments, If not , they don't deserve a free elite course?

hisspecific bluff candidate OTT seems bad, but I think OTR it seems good to pull the trigger in his shoes. cuz he blocks nuts. (75s) and with Qs he doesn't block your folding range.
bluffing with diamonds would be bad OTR. how do you think?

lmao. I think this spot is a spot where regs who play GG always suffer from leveling perspective. Some players told me that when they think about it from BB's perspective, BTN will fold, so they will cut it small bet with JJ~KK or check. But I don't think I can fold even if I was in your position. I am so disgusted by this clever trick by GG.

Here with TT on 200bb deep ,
As far as I know, in theory we have to use a bigger cold 4b sizing here than 100bb depth (at least on gto wiz), the good professionals you and I know prefer small 4b sizing regardless of stack depth. Will there not be much loss of EV if we play this way? If I use smaller 4b sizing in the table then villain gets too good Odds in IP and it's uncomfortable for me to play 4bp of high spr on OOP, so I often do 4b big OOP. (which GTO wiz prefers.) The problem is that we have to do various hands 4b so that our range doesn't cap to around QQ-AA, AKo, KQs, A5s. But then sometimes we play very big pot on oop with relatively bad hands, and it's too hard unless we fit the board well. I don't know how to solve this dilemma.

so if villain does CB more than sims, definitely we have to call naked T8s more right?
T8 has a BDSD so I think that's the reason of its decent call. but if there's some certainty that BB does CB more than SIM, I think it's good to call naked J8s here, how do you think?

This is very counter intuitive.
But this seems to change how we set the range of bb to decide whether or not to bet qj. I went into nl500 sim on gto wiz and checked it. QJo is pure XB on that one. (may be it depends on how many BB 3b pre KQo , Q9o , Q9s , Q6s on their range)

I was surprised to see you prefer bluff jam to just foldin a spot like this. I think fish will do some "whatever" snap call in frequency, so I think I would give up OTR. Because if we could call his delay cb OTT with any draw, fish might call with thinking we're shoving in busted draw. Is there any small tip for choosing a good bluff spot against fish? Because I rarely do this bluff against fish. vs Reg obviously different.

So this borderline KTo sometimes makes me kinda annoying in game. especially vs CO.
Because most of guys just range 1/4 -1/3 cb here. so on BTNvBB I mostly call this KTo even if solver suggests fold. uh. vs CO idk if CO tends to rangebet here.

My goal for April
Play poker for 25 out of 30 days in April and take 5 days off.
If you play 4800 hands a day and do it for 25 days, you can play 120k hands during April.
