i think it shows the EV of the node.
so the EV(turn, call) = sum of the EV(all the strategic option after that call) * each freq%
like in this simple case
EV(BB, river call) = (1/3)(+4.5) + (2/3)(-1.5) = 0.5
EV(BB, river check through) = (3)(1/3) = 1
--> EV(BB, turn call) = (60%)(0.5) + (40%)(1) - 1 = -0.3
here we had a +EV river call but -EV turn call

Hi Mark, nice video
at around 9:29, table 2. you said that its a board that doesn't hit villain's range too well. but given the calling range I post, I found its not v bad for villain's range even he needs to fold almost all of his broadway hands(guess he wouldnt defend too many offsuited broadway though). and he could defend even wider if he construct a raising range on the flop. so I doubt that AK without a heart is a +EV cbet on the flop? Also whats your plan on the turn/river? i guess as played we have to XF almost all the turn.

Day 5 (18th Nov.)

Monthly Goals
[ ] Watch 32 videos (1/32)
[ ] Post 16 hands (0/16)
[ ] Don't check result til the end of this month ...FAIL
[x] Don't play more than 6 tables

Fail the "Don't check result" goal cuz i feel I lost so much so I need to check to see if I should move down...

Down ~8k since the journal start. The downswing makes me dont have the motivation to anything else but just grinding grinding and grinding... I don't feel its a good cycle and its def makes me even harder to get out of the downswing. So I need to add some new rules/goals.
(Keep adding new goals maybe looks a bit stupid, but I think its important for me, esp at this point.)

Monthly Goals
[ ] Watch 32 videos (1/32)
[ ] Post 16 hands at PLO forum (0/16)
[ ] Don't check the result until the end of this month
[ ] Play 1/2 zoom exclusively until +10k (now -8k)
[ ] Spend at least 1 hour to study/review/post BEFORE the first session of the day everyday

I believe things will pick up soon! Good luck everybody!

Day 1 (14th Nov.)

[x] Wattch 2 videos

Not a very bad start for the journal. Lost 1.5k but its +340 in BB. I think I'm doing OK at 200z(graph) and 400(graph) if Im really focus and playing my A-game. However there is some issue that cause me deviate from my A-game frequently.

1) Play too many tables.
I should know that putting lots of volume is not my main goal for now. 1k hands with A-game is better than 3k hands with B/C-game. Esp my goal is to improve and move up to HSPLO asap, so its def meaningless to autopilot lots of hands and try to become a RB player.

2) Having a unrealistic expectation of my short-term result
I found my mental game is becoming worse and worse since I back to the PLO world. I don't know why. I know the variance, I had the exp of running below EV 300bi in the past, I've read some mental game books. But everything happened in PLO tilted me so much recently. I guess thats b/c of that I have too many unrealistic expectation. EX. I expect I can just jump into this game and start crushing, I think I should running better today cuz I already running below EV a lot... These thoughts are meaningless and hurts my game.

For fix these, I need some new goals. (and update some goals I made previously)

Short-term Goals (15th-30th Nov.)
[ ] Don't play more than 6 tables.
(The only condition that I can play 8 tables is all the game is running on Stars and non of them are zoom.)
[ ] Don't check result til the end of his month
[ ] Watch 32 videos
[ ] Post 16 hands at forum, and use PokerJuice to analyze them.

That's all. Will post some hands later. Good luck at tables!

hey thanks for your reply!
actually I'm not sure the strategy on blank river but i think i'd jamming the majority of the time.

Jan. 30, 2013 | 5:17 p.m.

BN: $66.92
SB: $102.71 (Hero)
BB: $50.32
UTG: $94.19
HJ: $81.36
CO: $21.08
villain's stats
21/16 with 19k hands

1st raise in BTN = 54%
FT3B in BTN = 61%
Call 3B in BTN = 24%
4bet range in BTN = 7.3%

FTCB in 3BP = 43/35 (flop/turn)
Raise CB in 3BP = 13
WTSD=22, WWSF=43
Preflop ($0.75) (6 Players)
Hero was dealt Q A
UTG folds, HJ folds, CO folds, BN raises to $1, Hero raises to $4, BB folds, BN calls $3
i think its a easy value 3-bet in SB against 54% opening range
Flop ($8.75) 3 4 K (2 Players)
Hero bets $4.50, BN calls $4.50
standard c-bet
Turn ($17.75) 3 4 K J (2 Players)
Hero bets $11.50, BN calls $11.50
- i think his calling range OTF is
{KQ-KT, K9s, K8s, TT-88, some broadway+Jh} + some {A-high, QJ, QT, 77-55}
- Against this range, I'm not sure I like betting or checking.
- Vs. his main range, i dont have too much FE here, the FE is depends on how wide his weak-side range are. And its hard to say.
- I decide to just bet here cuz my read could be wrong and I pick up some equity. (and my equity seems like not bad?)
- Also by betting i can rep stronger range on later streets and wouldnt let my range capped
River ($40.75) 3 4 K J Q (2 Players)
Hero checks
- most of the weak-part of his range were folding OTT
- the Q strengthen both our range
- its not value by betting here
- he might fold his K9s/K8s but those are not the big part of his range
- so I decide to XF river if he bets

Jan. 28, 2013 | 5:39 p.m.

in this kind of spot, EP/MP vs. LP 3bet, i usually flat all of my continue range include AA/KK/QQ. sometimes would 4bet AA/KK + some bluffs, but calling is my default strategy.

Jan. 9, 2013 | 5:05 p.m.

http://i.imgur.com/qgCQW.jpg
here is his pre stats

yes i think his flatting range OTB is ~15%, but not particular vs. MP, maybe 10%vsEP, 18%vsCO

Jan. 9, 2013 | 4:59 p.m.

Jan. 9, 2013 | 4:35 p.m.

thanks for the numbers!
i think i dont put his 6% 3bet on that kind of range,
cuz his CC% OTB is 15% and his FT4B%=62%, so i think he might flat AJo/AQo/KQ and add some SCs or sth like 86s/KTo into his 3bet bluff range.

if his range is what you describe then turn is an easy fold!
but if there r some bluff in his pre 3b range, then he have to bluff some % OTT.

Jan. 9, 2013 | 4:27 p.m.

yeah, i just run some numbers with Flopzilla and found OTT if we x/c {AJs+, AKo,} + .5{AA, KK}, then we would already defend 51.7% of our range. so theory wise we dont need to x/c TT on the turn.

Jan. 9, 2013 | 4:16 p.m.

BN: $722.57
SB: $115.42
BB: $107.65
UTG: $100
HJ: $100 (Hero)
CO: $170.14
(sorry my English is not good, hope everybody can understand what I wrote :) )

NL100 zoom on Stars
villain's stats
27/21/3b=7.2%
3bet vs EP=4%
3bet vs MP=6%
3bet from BTN=13.9%
C-bet=72/55/44 (78/55/47 in 3BP)
Agg%=46/39/25
WWSF=48
Preflop ($1.50) (6 Players)
Hero was dealt T T
UTG folds, Hero raises to $3, CO folds, BN raises to $8, SB folds, BB folds, Hero calls $5
villain's 3bvsEP=4, 3bvsMP=6%
3b from BTN=13.9

- Against people who doesnt 3bet a lot vs MP, i think folding TT is ok
- However this guy seems like not only 3bet vs MP for value (although 4~6 is not that high)
- I think putting TT in our calling range vs. him is fine (better than 4b/fold or 4b/allin)
Flop ($17.50) 2 2 8 (2 Players)
Hero checks, BN bets $10, Hero calls $10
villain's cbet%=72/55/44
agg%=46/39/25
WWSF=48

- I think x/c is standard
- there r some stronger hands in my range could x/r (also doesnt have much value by XR TT here)
Turn ($37.50) 2 2 8 A (2 Players)
Hero checks, BN bets $20, Hero calls $20
- i think he would 2nd barrel with almost all of his air = his bluffing range is wide OTT
- after i call this turn, my perceived range would have some AK/AQ/AJs and some KK/QQ/JJ, so he probably would slow down OTR?
- in theory, i think i can fold here. cuz TT is bottom of my range and i have some other stronger hand can defend.
River ($77.50) 2 2 8 A 8 (2 Players)
Hero checks, BN bets $75, Hero folds
- my perceived range = lots of bluff catcher (include some AK/AQ/AJs)
- river is not a good card to bluff

so ---> his bluffing range OTR should be v narrow

- TT is v bottom of my range.
- There r some AK/AQ/(AJs) i could call this river, so i dont worry about folding too much OTR.

Final Pot
BN wins $74.70
some other thoughts

- is preflop thought ok? actually i usually flat all of my continue range here include AA/KK
- is it ok to x/c turn x/f river?
actually i hate x/c turn x/f river, but we in some scenario we can do this.
(e.g. if by x/c turn, i rep a pretty strong range. then my villan's bluffing range OTR would be v narrow)
- hows my thought here:
if the river is club, i would consider calling, especial Kc, cuz his bluffing range would be wider.
- if turn goes check through, whats the strategy OTR with our range?
i think our range OTR is {AK, AQ, AJs, QQ, JJ, TT} + some {AA, KK, 99, KQs}
if there r KQs in my range, then i can VB {AA, AK, AQ, (AJs)} and bluff {KQs}
if there r no KQs in my range, then {TT, (99)} is bottom of my range,
if I wanna vb AQ+ here, should i add TT/99 into my bluffing range?

thanks!!!
