Thoughts/advice on poker coaching? How to find a good coach or maybe CFP program to help a winning low/mid(100nl online and 2/5 live) stakes player move up?

If you are playing 6m and start defending LJvBB like EPvBB(FR) you are exploiting. And you will accidentally exploit by getting more walks in the BB.

I am assuming you mean EP for 6m or LJ. If you are in BB facing a min-raise with a very tight range(~10%) I would just look at some FR preflop solutions vs MR. You can find them for free on GTO wizard and other places.

Lots of interesting spots. It took me over two hours to watch as I kept hitting pause and running sims :)

At the end, you mentioned you would make a turn double barrel theory/framework video next. I hope this is coming soon.

@34:00 where you 3B BBvBTN 89s and go B25-B75-jam on 3JT Q A

I put it into the solver and it prefers to bet/fold river with a small size which I thought was very surprising.

@3:30 you mention that high rake environment incentives using a range check strategy? Can you please explain why? Thanks.

In my solves A96ss 2 IP overbets the turn with both normal sim(flop mixing) and node-locked for range bet.

You mention that it is important to learn to range bet(the right spots) and play the turn well. Do you suggest just using GTOW for this kind of study or do you build out sims in PIO that are more specific? Do we need to node lock OOP to play "normal" against our range bet, and then study that turn node?

Nice vid. Your last suggestion about fold close spots if you are timing out reminds me of the old Mike Sexton line; "if you think long you think wrong"

At 20:21 left table - A8/644 T Q after XC-XX you 300% overbet. I'd love to hear a bit more about why this sizing, especially with A-high has some showdown value. Thanks

You read my mind with "hyper simply GTO". I have been thinking a lot about using either 1/3 range bet or PSB. Have you looked at PSB strategies? Are the PIO grids just that much more simple with 140% than PSB? Or did you choose 140% more because the player pool will have so little experience against it?

I think you mentioned that you don't prefer increasing your check raise frequency as exploit vs these way ahead way behind(WAWB) players. I would love to know more detail about why?

If we can exploit them by check-raising the flop more often we deny more equity than we can in the reverse float line right? Obviously, this is flop specific and your two examples are extremely wet/dry(789tt and A94r). So this makes me wonder if your preference for not increasing your check-raise frequency is just for these two examples or more of a general rule vs the WAWB strategy?

Thanks

"I think the main reason is the human brains is programmed for loss aversion. The wins rarely feel as good as the losses hurt. This is magnified when one’s primary vocation is poker. It is very hard to feel great about yourself when your results are not great or even good over a period of time. Conversely, when you are doing well, you are just a professional that is doing what they are supposed to do. It is a maddening trap that I think most, if not all, humans are programmed to face."

There is a lot of truth to this.

Thanks for posting :)

As 10+ year fulltime poker player I have thought a lot about these kinds of things. I am naturally self-critical so this, of course, extends to my poker but I have learned to be kind to myself most of the time. I think you are right that if we are too self-critical it can damage our self-confidence. I know I am sometimes still guilty of this.

Can you provide recent PLO results?

Which software(s) do you use for coaching/studying PLO?

Thanks

Just wanted to say how cool the booth was the first year you guys had it.
- got to meet a bunch of very good poker players
- lots of free T-shirts, and RIO even gave me a iPad mini
- got to checkout pokersnowie before it was released. I always wondered the results of those hyper SNG guys who were playing snowie all summer, and were there was action on both sides - anyone know?
- massage and food for breaks

Times have changed. I am not going to LV this year so I don't care. Maybe I won't bother going to WSOP again until RIO reopens their booth!

This is harder for me as I don't open ~18% from UTG. It this a monker solution for optimal UTG open range?
1) mostly fold with some 4Bs
2) mostly call with some folds
3) mostly fold with some calls

Import your hands and review all your blunders is where I would start.

Snowie doesn't learn from the hands you import.

Also you might want to read all the material on their website.

1) 3B (guessing solver mixes 3B/fold)
2) 3B (guessing solver mixes 3B/fold)
3) fold

Funny I thought #2 was easiest fold. I did big DB review of BB over call ranges from group of winning players and all the weak off suite B-ways were losing(~3 years ago).

I haven't dove into monker solutions yet but from the little posted in this thread I am curious how they will compare to - my DB reviews, and Snowie ranges?

In game where players don't 3B wide enough these are all folds for me. Not sure what "optimal" would be but I suspect they are still all folds?

No specific goals. I prefer to focus on habits I would like to develope. I usually pick one new habit to work on every month or so. So I have a list of habits I'd like to work on this year but will just pick a new one each month. I am going on a low media diet in Jan so much less time in poker forums/facebook/youtube..... for a month.

Happy New Year
