Stox's book got dated pretty quickly for online LHE, but it's a good foundation. Ed Miller's book is a timeless classic that is really only applicable to live games up to 20-40. Phil Newell's book is excellent for HU situations. Hand charts are okay to start with, but you really should understand the equities of the hands in various situations (HU, multiway, limped pots, raised pots, 3b pots, etc) and vs. various opponent hands to become an expert player. My default is to play pre flop roughly as Stox recommends, but I very my opening hands pretty significantly based on my opponents, I play more hands in softer games, fewer in tougher games, I isolate with more hands vs. terrible players, etc. Hands I usually fold to 3b I may play in the right position vs. the right opponents for 3 bets if I'm convinced my cards are live and my opponents will pay off extra. You can't play poker well as if you are reading a recipe from a cookbook, you play it well by anticipating what your opponents have and will do.

Rule one of LHE club is that you never fold. If LHE club members constantly violate this rule, rule 2 of LHE club is bluff them relentlessly.

Get Phil Newalls book. He was a HU-LHE superstar, and explains playing game theory optimal HU LHE very well.

Live against some players I'm happy to put in 7th or 9th bet or more. In a MTT though those last chips you win aren't nearly as valuable as the last chips you lose, so 5th bet might be a reasonable place to stop, even 3rd if you are near the bubble.

I tend to cap all value hands OOP, and wait for turn to raise in position. But I play live where sometimes bad players will put in the 5th/7th/etc bets trying to buy a free turn card, so I like to give them the opportunity to 9 bet semi bluff me.

Phil Newalls book is excellent for HU holdem play and GTO balanced play.

And I try to take a little bit of extra time with my strongest hands to balance out the timing tells when I need to think about a decision. The problem with limit is that once you learn to play fairly well 99% of decisions are pretty instantaneous (since in LHE you don't have to think about bet sizing at all), so your weaker hands/tougher spots tend to stand out as tells.

If folding is correct, I know why uncapped PLO will never be popular. Games that reward nittery are terrible games.

Tom, thanks. I occasionally play PLO live in a capped format (which promotes huge action) and your video has been very helpful to me. And ignore the whiners, it seems the deep stack PLO players who have the greatest animus against short stackers are typically set mining nits who are far worse for the games than short stackers.
